Ok, today I experienced my first painful moment on the water in a long time.

Was trying to hold a candlestick longer than on previous jumps...got good height, but was dropped like a stone (yes it was gusty), butt first in water and it hurt....all good now though.

Others experience the same?

Yeah, similar experience, but different result.
I dropped out of the sky like one of Gallelio's cannon balls (or was that Archimedies?) at Altona, plunging myself a$$ first into the water. I had the presence of mind to kick the board free, so I avoided any ankle/knee damage, but without much bouyant force (that was definately Archimedies...) found myself deep under the ocean. Upon eventually finding the surface I realised two things, oxygen is very under-rated, and it hurts a lot when your eardrum is perforated... This fortunately only took a few weeks to recover from.

I reckon everyone should have to perform a regulation 'enima' landing during the trick section at Kite-X.

Neoprene shorts or a springie helps a lot with this. I always wear one but that was more because of the ball slappings than the enemas. Nothing like that clean feeling ;)

Seat harness + ball slapping = serious pain. I've changed to a waist now, maybe i can ditch the neoprene.

I do wear neoprene shorts and a seat...the seat is good when near reef or there are spiky things in the water.

Yea Puppet, a good emina landing should get points.

I especially love the way that having your feet in the straps keeps your legs open just enough to allow your love-spuds to be the first thing that hits the surface of the water.

i think my nose cops it more than my a-hole though. I love it when you blow your nose and salt water keeps dribbling out for the next 15 seconds afterwards...

Wear a seat harness - keeps ya boardies closed tight. As long as your boardies aren't thread bare your back door is safe! Hate the smell of rotting seaweed farts - not fun Cheaper than paying for a fancy day spa flush out though!!

Have definatly experience the hard water slap on the spuds though Good for singing along with the Vienna choir. attemps to get wifey to help massage the bruised area fell flat...

Also had my board fall off my front foot just before touch down and go sideways between the stumps!! Ended up straddling each side of the fence!! Fkn ell!!! Lucky I saw it coming and just got a bit out of the way so as not to split the spuds completely!!

Glad I had a floaty vest on that day as I was floundering for at least 5 minutes with the kite parked on the water

Had a very similar experience. Discovered gravity and took a massive slapper on the butt, which knocked the wind right out of me. Pulled up quite sore for the next few days. But it was only when I got boozed and decided to moon some people that I realised the extent of the damage. Upon dropping my pants, the party went quiet and asked me what I had done to inflict such severe bruising. Looked in the mirror to see the entirety of my butt coloured nice shades of black/blue/red...

Yup - actually have a nice set of sea urchin spines decorating my cheeks at present. Courtesy of a Sunday session on a low tide. Wicked spot though.

Just remember ....... If you are about to get the high speed water enima thingy ..... Keep your mouth closed ..... Prevents the awful taste of polluted seawater moving up the alimentary canal and out your mouth !!!!!!!
