Really cool view. Comparing with a synoptic chart really shows what is going on.
Any idea where the data comes from?
Is it an animated synoptic or does it collect observations from somewhere (ie forecast or actual)?
I can pan and zoom the image.
Is there a secret hotkey to change the wind direction to something kiteable? 
Hope bruce goes cat 4 (after cocos) and heads south, would churn up a bit of swell

This is a guess, but i think it is the wind speed at different altitudes. The higher the hPa, the closer to the earths surface the reading is for.

thats right - the lesser the pressure the higher the altitude
