Here's something a little bit different. I teamed up with a couple of guys from the local film making club and a bunch of the local kiting crew (thanks guys!) to try making a short film that would be interesting to a non-kiting audience, with a view to entering it in a few film festivals around the place.
We had our share of dramas with the usual light to no wind when we wanted it, and some defective audio gear, but we worked around it and it came out ok. (Try 720pHD and fullscreen if you have the bandwidth). Music is by local Newcastle muso Mick Rippon - www.mickrippon.com Here's the result...
(Warning: No megaloops. No handle passes. No blood. If your time is valuable, consider carefully before watching!)
OMG landshark!
Lol cool video - thanks for sharing.
Strapped and unstrapped, hooked and unhooked to keep everyone happy. ![]()
Great Film, what camera did you use for the from the kite video?
My go pro HD arives this week so will take some video of the Northern Beaches Secret Spot Below.
Goodness me...
that was a standard days kiting in Shark bay.
find a shark and chase it down for flat water fun.....
shark chase!!! what a crock!!!
the shark was clearly **ting itself and trying to avoid the kiteboarder.
the shark was clearly about 5 foot (best measured when right under the kiter) and therefore would only consider biting the fella as a self defence measure.
that was not a shark chasing a kiter.
it was wildlife crossing paths with a human. nothing more.
... hey Nerk that was fantastic, good editing and good music, two thumbs up from me dude!!!!
ps RayQ, I've had 3 close calls with sharks that were just about the same as the video has shown, 2 tigers and 1 hammer head over a 2 year period, luckily only clipped the second tiger which was about 5 or 6 foot!!!!
Mate that is outstanding!! Wish I'd noticed it earlier.
Love the back to basics - leave the heroics at the door approach. Very accessible for kiters and non-kiters.
Some great footage there. Even a bit of nice (real world - not pumped pro-kiter) lovely jubbly too. ![]()
Gonna pass this on to a mate who worked his butt off for 2 yrs and just produced his 1st feature (complete with dramas and ups n downs). He is not a kiter but I reckon he will be inspired also.
Hell - even the sound was tops (unlike most commercial kite vids). ![]()
