Hey kids, no this is not a topic about short tacking

I have been approached by the DEC about kiters riding in front of the Dredging boat that is there at the moment, they are concerned as this thing has some serious chopping blades in action that will easily make burly out of someone.

Please avoid this at all costs as there is talk of banning the area until they have finished (sometime in December)

They already have a photo of someone riding just in front of it so they don't need anymore Ammo !!!

Cheers

What sort of exclusion zone are they looking for? 50m in all directions or just in front or what?

Hi all,
I live opposite the dredge. The Safety Bay Windsurfing Club has moved to the Carlisle Street ramp for the same reason.
There are 3 yellow pyramid buoys lit at night, they are positioned to mark the exclusion zone. Stay outside of these and you are in the clear. Cheers.

Hey Jas, I'd imagine this is particularly whilst it's in operation, not at all times?

The major concern is riding in front of the machine while it is in use!

It is far enough out now that riding out of the pond towards the weed bank is not an issue, not that the short tackers need to worry about that

yes apparently after they pull the tiger shark carcass out of the chopping blades the other week, they want no more stoppages, bony kitesurfers really jam up the dredge, big toothpick.

Well at least the fishing has improved, if you guys seen what we catch in here at night!!!
Not Euros but, you can catch them all ya want, like blowies

I still am seeing quite a few kiters kiting through these buoys. One guy on a rebel was actually trying all his tricks right in the middle of all the buoys but stayed out after i notified him. I think both WOK and WA SURF NEED to put some signage up at both entrances to the pond regarding this. Would hate to see the pond closed in December. cheers

Good idea bigeeeZeee, i will print something up today and put it next to the council signs at this entrance to the pond.

We have been telling everyone to keep out of the exclusion zone and will continue to do so.

Maybe a 20 foot shipping container with flashing lights with "stay the f @ck out of the restricted zone" painted on the sides should work?

Also mention 'keep out Euro's' for maximum effect..

How about something along these lines:

^^^ But that doesn't say anything about the exclusion zone

Mate, I was French once upon a time and I can't understand a word of that line so either French has changed greatly since I left 22 years ago or you may want to go back to school

Safety bay = Rockingham
Rockingham = Lowbreeds
Chopping boat + low breeds= less low breeds= better world

These are typical safety bay people. We need some population control down there.

Dude, they don't understand it either. It's just that their world needs to be simple and black/white or the complexity would fry their little brains.

Mattkennedy they are a bit clueless with rules and things but the WA crew treat them like **** it's embarrassing
u wouldn't get this in laid back QLD or VIC where i'm from and it's not all western ozzies but they some how think
it's there's kite spots no one else's.

But too be fair have seen the euros do some silly things there is just a better way too tell someone and
most of the time if u approach them nicely u will get a better result
