Just wanted to let you guys in on a little secret seeing how most things take a bit longer to arrive in australia. This is the newest trick in Europe, it's called The General, and soon everyone on the pro circuit will be doing it.. it's a pretty complex move but I'm sure we will soon see Back mobe to blind generals, KGB Generals and Bosched Generals all over the place! So time to go out there and start practicing guys!

He isn't doing "a trick", it's so farking cold and his wetsuit is so thick that he can't bend his arms past a 45degree angle.

The guys in melbourne/tassie already know this "trick", but it's not used anywhere else in OZ, actually maybe adelaide.

Now there's a good comp idea - Most Bizzare Trick.

Get creative, get stoopid, take a shot and send them in.
Good way to liven up an average day on the water, and have a bloody good laugh too.

i remember back in the days of windsurfing when "doogs" was riding for north international he was in one of thier ads in the mag doing the trick he invented called the "tin man" which was essentially the same as this except you put you arm straight beside you and turn fs 90 degrees the direction you are going, hahaha it used to crack me up everytime i saw it and now when remember i crack out the old tin man at every possible occassion, the latest being off the booter at the cable park (actually harder than you think to stand tall at cable)
anywayz tin man out.

Actually this move was first displayed by a young and creative windsurfing lad from Merimbula, whilst living on Maui with the aforementioned 'Doogs', and it involved this same salute and was called the 'The Sergeant'. It was also shown in a windsurfing video and performed by one of the Quattro boys, maybe Sean Ordonez, can't quite remember.

i know the originator of that trick!

honest to god, my mate was the first doing the original trick "the ambassador" , from which we derived the sickest variants "the general", the "nazi" and "the skipper". All featuring straight legs.

you can totally check it out here - 0:13:

yeah it was shown in the movie of the 1999? hookipa classic called "EPIC" i think and keith taboul did it (he rode quatro) the guy that is commentating at the point says "OH he got some NASA air!!" lol dunno why i remember that.

p.s.Doogs was doin the Tin Man as i said (also in an ad for north) i remember because i was there in maui when doogs was doin it. i think this actually looked even funnier (maybe only windsurfing) because it looked so akward to have your body dead straight and both arms beside you while facing the direction you are travelling. (actually quite hard to do)

Rowdy,
You have a good memory. I was at a hall in Paia for the launch of that video. A certain young Aussie bloke stood up and yelled, "F@kn prick stole my move," when that segment was shown. Very funny stuff.
