A couple of weeks ago I kited 7 days in a row and have been two or three days a week since but have noticed the tendons in my middle to fingers on my left hand and now wrist /forearm are sore and don't seem to be getting better.
Just wondering if anyone else has had similar problem and what they changed or did to fix it as I have a trip up north fast approaching and want to practice as much as possible and get the problem sorted, I might try physio and or anti inflams but am wondering if something wrong with my grip, I do put my hand in the centre of the bar a lot with two fingers either side of the trim. Thanks

Are you holding the pressure with the very tips of your fingers? I noticed I had similar problems with narrow diameter bars and holding on with only the tips of my fingers. After I made my bar thicker and held on with my whole hand rather than my fingers I rarely seem to have the same problem.

Yes I do tend to hold the bar with my fingers, what did you use to make the bar thicker?
I find I don't have to adjust the kite as much when I have it parked if I hold the very centre of the bar but this seems to put a lot of stress on the fingers and maybe the wrist when making constant little adjustments, also I have been kiting in winter wind you know 20 to 35 knots cross onshore.

I have the same issue except I get it all the way up my arm to the point that after a big session I am almost in tears and lifting a drink bottle to get a drink is almost impossible.

Would really appreciate any tips anyone has who has gone through similar type of overuse strains and of there are ways around it. I have tried to develop more flexibility through my shoulders and arms and particularly my forearms and working on my grip strength so hopefully that will help.

1) You need a kite with low bar pressure
2) Try changing your grip; even if only for the tack out... different hand, under over etc
3) Thicker bars work better for me to. (2012 ozone was thicker in centre)
4) All the fish oil stuff
I had it so bad I couldnt hold a fork. Ended up the switchblade 1 with pulleys on bar and bar pressure were the culprit. I now only ride kites with low bar pressure.

I have carple tunnel ( spelling ? ) in both hands and some other crap going on with my elbows ( 28 yrs roofing ) and wake up every night at about 4 am in pain. If its carple you get numbness/ pain in thumb and two and a half fingers. ( operation needed ) elbows are from manual labour punishment and just need rest ( I hope ) I ride a switchy and it doesn't effect my symptoms at all.

Water skiing gloves are a big help, they have big binding wrap around wrist which takes most pressure off the hand and distributes it along the forearm sharing the load.

Never thought of changing the bar pressure, my kites have the three attachment choices on wing tips for bar pressure so I will try them on the lowest setting, but today its to sore to even go for a surf let alone a kite, injuries suck

Def try the lightest bar pressure setting, might take a few runs to get used to it, but your arms will like it much better! What do you do for a living? Tradie by any chance? Something that involves twisting and holding/gripping tools like hammers/drills/screwdrivers, even paint brushes and rollers?
Definitely try some voltarin 25mg from the chemist, take 2 with food (breakky) then one several hours later/before bed or with dinner, and get some of the voltarin cream too and rub that around the areas that are sore, you should see a big drop in pain. Take it easy though because the voltarin will only be masking the pain from the injury, you still need to take it easy, tendon injuries can take a while to heal. Thicken up the bar with hockey tape.

Thanks everyone for feed back, tried the voltarin gel good stuff, did the anti inflams and had physio today and feels 70% better, I will have to work on grip as I don't wanna end up with carpel. Might have to go back to two hand grip for a while. ( try to resist the obvious comment Cauncy)
