Tamatoa Gillot managed to develop a kite harness, which allows him to carry a person. There's one rule, though. Girls only. One of the first girls to try the kite stunts was Lea Bernadet, a former competitive skier, who has been the victim of an alpine accident that made her paralyzed, at only 19."Putting up Lea was intense. I totally obscured her handicap, then I realized that the position for a quadriplegic in handisport is a sitting one, at the opposite of what we were doing! It was a lot of emotion for both of us", says Tamatoa Gillot.

I think it would make a great addition to the kitesurfing school worldwide to make tandem harnesses like this. I wonder if a certified kite instructor were to say "set up their own business" doing this, what would be potential hazards in the way of safety laws? Would it be just as simple as signing a document saying that the participant takes all ownership of potential injury?

There has been numerous people that have helped develop special chairs and boards..
I remember when on a Papua Nuguinea cruise we took some islander kids for a ride - the biggest smiles ever..
Would be great to do something here for the disabled kids :)

Dave here. Occupational Therapist when I'm not kiteboarding. There's a few YouTube videos around of modified boards for those with spinal injuries if you go searching. I've been an OT for 15 years and have found people can do pretty much anything with enough determination and the right gear. There are specialist recreation equipment suppliers in Australia or agencies that can make or modify gear that isn't commercially available . Contact your State Independent Living Centre for more information. The ILC in WA is the largest and most well resourced in the country.

So... top guy, great idea, well done fantastic way to give pleasure to those with disabilities. 10/10 there.

But seriously... "Xtreme Video" who posted that to youtube gets to pick the cover shot and the title.

Why the fk would they pick those. I mean the story is all about this "Lea Bernadet" and how she's able to have fun again.

What about letting her have some dignity too? I mean fk "Double pleasure" with that second chosen from hours of footage? Cmon guys that's pretty fkin low. She can't even control where here legs are hanging FFS.
