Smoked this landing after mistimed jump and accidental kiteloop today at Caloundra 31 knots. (video coming soon!)

Result was 2 hours at Caloundra hospital, x-rays and a cute doctor!!

Busted rib cartilage, possible fractured wrist.

Thanks to those who packed up my kit, drove me to hospital, came and laughed at me and called me a woos.

Thanks to DaKine for the wonderful impact vest I forgot to put on!!!

Look at the bright side. At least you've got injuries that keep reminding you why you're not kiting.

I'm out of action for at least a week with a wrenched 4th finger. My brain keeps asking me why I'm not out kiting in this great weather, and all I have for an answer is one lousy bruised digit.

This is the series of shots taken by may mate Paul on a Canon EOS 400D reduced to 25% of original size.

I originally jumped to the left of the red buoy in the first shot but hit a little wind chop and got out of shape. One back spin, a kiteloop and 70meters later it really hurt!!

And here is Uncle Sid getting ozone poisoning shortly after.

Bigwaved said. - Not good to publicise these incidents. Kiters are not the only people who read these forums.

Provide them with ammo you do.

No this is not personal but a genuine comment that I am sorry to hear of your incident. Of the three kiters I am responsible for [2 kids and me] we have a combined 1 ambulance trip, 2 nights in hospital, 3 broken eardrums, 7 stitches yet we are still at it.

Wishing for a speedy recovery.....

I returned to kiting yesterday a little prematurely from a hernia op (Solar plexus to groin). nearly 6 weeks without kiting ws driving me insane. so took my naish cult out for a run. put the sunscreen on the bald patch, face, neck, calves and hands......then put on a spring suit.

Burnt my lower arms really badly. got face planted 3 times, dragged backwards lost board for 15 mins....Fantastic fun.

However, I am sat in bed now with severe muscle pain in my abs and what feels like a surgical staple jabbing a nerve periodically.

So, do you think sunburn, muscle pain and nerve damage is gonna kep me off the water this week?

Not a chance.....I am gonna be taking Double Digesic tabs and go kiting after work every night wind permitting. The doctor said light exercise was a must and I have to follow his advice!

Hope you get well soon guys....

Cheers

Thought it would be best to ease yourself in for the first time
Thats what I did after 5 weeks
I reckon you could kite all day, but it will only take one stuff up and its back to square 1

All these years of that full barrel blocking & tackling & pounding down into hard ground and here you go smashing ribs landing all by yourself in nice soft water
Doesnt figure.

Hope you get it sorted super quick. Its not nice
(great to have pics though)

Given your record, do you think a few kiting lessons might be useful?

Look after yourself!!! Take it easy....Hit the painkillers....

To keep you from being, you know, down in the dumps...You don't wanna get bored or anything... u could look after the kids while we go kiting, keep yourself busy.....u know seeing's how your not do'in anything.....We could drop them off anytime...

So full of good ideas...xxx Toni & John - (givusacallifuneedahandmate ok?!)
