Hey guys,
Just wanted to get some info on when the fireing range in Swanbourne operates?(I know its been brought up before, but it's probably time for an update.)
Thanks
Matt

The range operates at any time, if you "google" the range you can get the contact details for the club and they can advise when the club is using the range.
But, the military can use it at any time, and the club does not always know about this, so you have to rely on the red flags which are displayed on the range and visible from the beach and west coast hwy. When the red flags are up, the range is being used.

Hey Matt,

As you drive past on West Coast Hwy, if you see a big red flad flying, they are shooting. They also put big red flags at each end of the range on the beach as well.

Good winds,

Hey guys,

Thanks for that. I already know about the flags at either end and the watch towers with flags scattered along the beach and the exclusion zone etc.

I guess I was more asking whether they had set dates/times that they operate, appears not, I shall call them,

Thanks

Edit, It apears a number of clubs use the range on Saturdays at 1:30pm

the clubs fire on saturday arvos from about lunch . the beach area is cleared about an hour before they start (****ta beating in the dunes by the beach inspector and some army dudes was regular) . there is also a 10 day comp held at the end of summer each year . and when you hear automatic fire , thats the sas training but they normally fire short range .
back in grom days ive worked marking targets for the clubs and living at south city we have found bullets on the road out near our house and houses have even had windows smashed from the range!!
p.s. ive been hit by a bullet! - marking a target in the pits and had a bullet bounce of a target board next to me and hit me , no joke , just like copping a pebble from a ging
