Said on the local TV news he was hit by his board, and when surfers got to him he was face down being dragged by his kite. Hope he's OK

No matter what / where / why / how, this is a sad incident for all involved, and the broader kiting community.
The family of the fellow involved have indeed contacted Laurie and asked that discussion be limited until the outcome / circumstances are better understood.
