What is the best sunburn cream for your face that doesn't wash off too easily and most importantly doesn't sting the crap out of your eyes?
Most of the high end sports ones work ok. I use Banana Boat Ultra.
The trick is to rub it in early so it dries properly and to clean the excess off your eyebrows.
After going through a couple of brands, I find the Cancer Council stuff doesn't sting the eyes. Hamilton and Banana Boat are good too.
omg this is a really important topic i was only thinking today i would kill for a suncream that doesnt make me half blind every session, ive just got home and they still sting and ive got like a milky hazed vision.
Dont know about the zinc sticks because dont they just make you look like you have white face paint on?
will have to try the bannana boat one though cheers!
Ella Bache' sports block is the best...i have found...been using it for 10 years... you can rub it in your eyes and does not sting, it last for 3 hours before reapplying... its about 80 bucks for a big bottle, but well well worth it... great for Albinos like me
You could try the new Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF30+ Dry Touch lotion. I've used it for about 6mths now as I got some pre-release. It lasts longer than any other lotions I know of including invisible zinc. It's realistic to expect 4hrs out of it, even in water sports environment. I haven't had any probs from sunscreen near my eyes with it either. Prior to this I did use Banana boat successfully so that is another option.
Yes, I do work for the company that sells Neutrogena.
Whatever you do, find a sunscreen that works and USE IT! It's so much easier and cheaper to prevent skin cancers than it is to remove/cure them. Chrs, Warren
ive used a few, though atm im using the woolworths select brand 30+ sunscreen (yellow bottle).. its a very light and viscous cream which stays on for hrs. plus i also slap on some aloe vera and green teas aftersun spray (green bottle) Also woolies select brand.. Works well; it doesnt sting my eyes and i literally rub it over 98% of my face. its cheap aswell
I have found that if I apply lotion, wait 30 mins for it to soak in, then stick my head under a fresh water shower for a couple mins to rinse the excess off that I am fine. I spent two months kiting in northern Brazil and did this everyday to avoid being absolutely blinded! I think that it's just a matter of gently rinsing the excess off so that it doesn't end up in your eyes. And in my experience, rinsing off excess doesn't mean losing meaningful coverage.
Hope this helps!
had this clear gel stuff in a orange bottle, i think by the cancer council, it burned your face when you put it on but lasted for the whole day and i think a bit into the next. didn't run at all
Non greasey kids sunscreen, from most brands I've tried are pretty good.
They avoid stingy stuff/perfumes for kids creams.
Zinc works a treat, but I stopped using it cause it is such a pain in the ass to get off. Granted, I was just using some white zinc brand.
I used it for about 10 years when kiting and surfing, and granted it does the job, but at a high price of spending 25 minutes in the shower and going back and forth with the mirror.
Now I just use 30+ suncream, reapply half way through a session, chuck a hat on and wait 15 minutes. I never get burnt.
I'll have to try this clear stuff though. Is it hard to get off?
The Key-Sun clear-zinc don't burn & washes off easily & on a plus side unless white/coloured zinc when you head to the pub afterwards your not covered in the ****
