An Interesting discussion has started in another thread but I feel it is important enough to have it's own thread

Ozone calls this setup the "expert" mode not suicide, however the kite will not flg out, as per the ozone website description:

Advanced Riders: (not recommended, use at your own risk)
Riders performing unhooked tricks or who are more confident and have spent many hours kiting can attach to the ring using the Expert mode, where the chickenloop runs through the large eye of the steel ring.NOTE: When letting go of the bar in Expert mode (without releasing the Megatron, e.g. missed handle pass) the kite will depower but WILL NOT flag out. Be aware in this situation, the Megatron will be out of reach and can therefore not be released.

That section needs an update, because it was written before they released the short leash. Now if you come unhooked and are using that "advanced rider" ring the bar and chicken loop is well within reach, and the red primary safety on the c-loop can be popped, and the kite will flag out. Thats why I don't refer to the method as suicide. Even with a long leash you can pull the c-loop back to you and release it.
If your leash is clipped to your centre line above the chicken loop, you are in for a ride unless you can release your leash and let go of the whole kite - suicide.

I personally would not use this technique of setting up my safety unless I was learning handle passes or practicing them.

The likelyhood of the flagging line not engaging as the chicken loop passes through the metal ring and the hook is too high for me.

As for the possibility of an accidental unhook, what wrong with just riding at the kite and hooking back in.

Safety is up to the individual
For me I'd rather ride in the safest possible way

Last thing I want is a flagged out kite if I'm unhooked and drop the bar.

So I use the method in that picture.
