Hey all, I've been reading, watching and browsing this forum for a while & I think it's great.

This is my first post as I've come to an end in my search for:
stick on / temporary / glue on (foam?) foot straps for a surf board.

I found some (old) posts on forum:
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13356&whichpage=-1
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=31984&whichpage=-1
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=31439&whichpage=-1
mostly about permanent straps (ie: drilling / glassing plugs in).

I still want to use my board strapless sometimes & don't really want to break open the skin for plugs etc. The type they speak of in the first post (referenced above) sound perfect, foam ones that lay flat when not in use & eventually peel off after some time..

I've looked at various on-line stores, with no luck.

Any brand name / manufacturer / other name they're known by or links / contact details would be really appreciated..

Many Thanks,
Steve Pan.

Never pimped before but my mate is a driven and inventive farker and made these recently. Seems to possibly fit your needs.

He's making away to put them on standard boards at the moment.

not sure how to embed vid so will paste links.

I've had the NSI pads in the past and they stick well, but it is a shallow screw grab. The pair I had are not the go if you offset your FRONT foot strap as they have a ridge where the plate for the screws are, and so the board can't be comfortably paddle surfed. They are ok if you run both straps down the stringer. Smedg give me message if/when just the pads are available from your mate. I'd be keen to give them a go on a combo board.

Yeah ok no worries. Did you see the boards on the website? They are advertised as combo boards. I can't rate as haven't ridden them yet and also am amature at best on a surfboard (I've bearly ever ridden a surfboard in straps) but they look pretty sick I reckon. Not sure how the new option is going to work, he's just trialling things at the moment. I think he's making ones that suit plugs that are put into the board yourself after market, not just stuck on, and are still quick released like the ones above, but i'm not sure. You could check with him if you want. I don't get anything from him but am unsure if I should say how good i think his stuff is 'cause he's a mate and not a site sponsor. Assume its ok if relevant to someones question and I'm not sponsored or trying to sell anything.

We have been selling the NSI surf pads for a while now and they work well.

Just have to make sure you board is cleaned and no left over wax before you stick them on.

@ Greenfinger. I been using his lines for a while and rate them. The little pigtail extensions are also awesome. I do remember that he changed which lines he was selling very early on in the piece, can't remember why. So there is a small chance I've got different lines to you. Here is link to his website so you can ask him if you want. He only wants to be selling top quality stuff and puts it all through the paces thoroughly himself.

PS
I rode the 5' 9" carbon fibre surfboard breifly yesterday for the first time and loved it. Straps worked a treat. But, re reading initial post suggests Pan wants sick one ones I guess rather than touching the board or getting a new board. I just like that the advection straps don't require tools. They just seem like one of those designs that are soo good and work soo well mostly due to thinking outside the box and coming up with something new and really quite simple. Interested to hear others thoughts.

Before this thread I didn't know there was stick on footstaps tough enough for kiting. Who's tried the stick on ones? Any good?

Let us know what you end up getting and how well they go Pan.

Smedg, I thought your mates were stick on. I guess the straps connect the same as a leg rope plug. If you had a some stainless wire (same as in a leg rope plug) welded up into small ladder shapes and was sandwiched between layers of grip with cutouts same as your photo for foot straps to attach; it may work as a stick on.

Hey Pearl I mostly follow ya. email Darren from the link on his website if you want.

I'm no where near as good as him at design and practical and materials stuff. I kinda thought I was until I met him haha. I'm only good for judging finished products. haha. Assuming when you said 'your photo' you're talking about the vid of his I posted above. Yeah, the ones in the vid are definitely not stick on.

Also, you're talking deck grip, then layer of stuff to join straps to, then more deck grip with holes to get to previous layer right.? It would want to be nice and neat to not get high or bulky. You wouldn't want anything that felt like foot pads under your feet.

Guess thats kind of how some of the ones in other peoples links above work, and some of them look pretty good. This way would have more options for strap placement though.

By the time I next see him he will have thought about it all constantly for days and nights and made all different prototypes until something begins to meet his fussy standards. I got no idea what he'll come up with but I'll let ya know what happens.

To those interested.
Darren has designed footstrap mounts for the quick release foot straps in the video I posted above. I checked them out today.

The footstraps strap into webbing that is strongly (and permanently) secured to the deck of the board. He's managed to keep the bit that joins to the board quite small in area because it joins so strongly (so didn't need to be bigger). Once footstraps are removed the webbing bits left on the board sit quite flat and are even less noticeable if surrounded by deck grip.

I like em. i'm getting a set for my board as I can't afford a new board at the moment, am keen on doing more strapped surfing but definitely want the option of removing the straps quickly and easily whenever.

Here is a link to the footstraps for placing on a board you already have.

Below is Darren showing the world he can do chin ups.. haha
