What effect does the stance angle have on your riding? Do most wakestylers/freestyles ride with maximum angle?
I like to ride fully ducked and I got a feeling it's the reason why I snapped one of my straps recently (design fault me thinks). Was thinking of having slightly less of an angle, however, only in order to preserve my new replacement straps...
Stance angle has very little to do with riding style and everything to do with avoiding knee injuries.
You should set your duck angle once you've determined a comfortable stance width. Crouch down and as you do watch the angle that your knees make. Your stance angle should be at the same angle as your knee's are pointing.
I managed to break my straps as well...
2000 jumps were probably too much for them ![]()
With a wider stance you have more leverage and more options to distribute the weight on the board. So I feel like it gives me better overall control, I can throw around the board easier and also load it up better.
When I'm powered and jump around I also like to ride in fully ducked, it allows me to hold more power and then be more explosive when taking off. So nothing wrong with that imo, it's not your fault when the straps can't take it. ![]()
As said, knee problems are the trade-off with a too wide stance, so be aware of it.
