Epic. A lot faith in your gear .yep we,ve got backcountry just like that ,no need to go to nz . I got a season pass at perisher this year and plan to spend a lot of time there this year and check out the paralyzer area in particular ( the area to the left of eyre bar between perisher and charlottes pass) have done the Ramshead range a fair bit and had one particularly epic day out there last year on the tail end of a front .waining smooth wind and freshies .there is quite a crew in nsw now .
