Managed to get a sneaky sesh down at Pinaroo this arvo. 20-25knts from the south with minimal swell, could have been mid season. I was the only one there ?! Maybe the hardcore regulars were home doing their knitting. Anyone else been sliding in an odd sesh?
Got a late session in at Melville in a dropping gusty wind. Pretty ok oN the 10 but I'm sure the ocean would have been better if I'd had the time to get there.
actually I've decide go to Scarbs in future in this sort of wind. 20 minutes of good wind better than 50 dodgy.
Got in a good DW from city's to trigg today.
Probably about 10 ppl all up doing same. Big waves great winds... Definitely no knitting going on ![]()

Mullawatu had a couple of nice sized waves coming through this arvo, before the wind swung sse, not too many crew out either. Nice to be out on the water again
Was standing at rugby training feeling the wind and dreaming about walking down to pina from my house. Getting that itch!
Yup had a good session at woodies, had the place to myself most of the time.![]()
Was also at woodies from 3.30.. Beach 3.. Only three or four ppl out for 2 and a half hours in the most flattest water which stretched the whole beach.
Great time to practise some moves!![]()
What were u riding hybrid??
You lucky sods... Vic has been pretty much wind free for the last month. Some winter winds on the horizon... now to deal with the 7 degrees + wind chill....
The place to be?
What were u riding hybrid??
I was around on beach 1 enjoying the chop on my C4 from around 1-3:30. Feeling it today!
Yes I snuck down to beach between Pin & ocean reef. There's a coffee van in the car park there around 1100 no one on the beach it was a bit gusty from 27-34kn. By the time I got set up the wind settled. Water was warm had kite at 12oclock picking my board up when a gust dragged me down the beach due to loop unhooked I mainted a hold on the bar with 1 leg stuck in the sand I ended up rotating and now I'm awaiting X-rays to see the extent of the damage. The lesson from all of this is drop the kite and look after yourself. It was a shame as the water conditions were flat with waves rolling in I was pretty pissed![]()

That's not the best spot to launch from and is not a designated kiting area. Due south winds are blowing cross-off shore there which adds turbulence and danger to launchings and landings even in the summer when the wind is clean. Try Mullaloo which has a much wider beach than pinnas at this time of year.
If you ever become unhooked by accident in strong winds, never grab the bar! Either let go of everything OR grab only the chicken loop first and hook back in quickly, then grab the bar again. Hope you're OK

My first full season in Perth and in future I'll go to Mullaloo. Jury still out on the injury have to have a MRI next week praying to the wind gods that it nothing too serious.
Appreciate the advice will consult the seabreeze oricle first next time.
Cheers
yeah we were busy knitting some big airs, loops and slashing waves at mullaz for 3 hours straight. How was the lawn mowing?
