I am about to buy the Alien 3 mast sizes beginners foil kit.
Has anyone used this set up to learn on and wish to share there experiences or on a similar set up with short masts.
Ay helpful input would be appreciated.
I was looking at a hoverglide foil a couple of days ago. Looks like a worthy first foil package.
I haven't ridden it so can't comment on how it rides.

Hover Glide is the foil, Alien Air is the board.
If you're not a massive fatty and you're not chasing ultimate light wind, then get the bigger-sized Dwarf Craft.
IMO short masts are a waste of time, but if you insist on doing that, then get just a half size and stick with that.
Foil likes to be ridden fast, but it's stable at speed. If you try to ride newbie-slow, it'll stall and push up the front foot aggressively and you'll want to move your back foot forward, which is a mistake ;)
The foil is bloody heavy, heaviest on the market I think. But the mast is sealed so it won't take water in, then leak in your car. Wing is bloody solid but the winglets get chipped up easily. Mast and plate are cheap to replace, which is good cos I know of two here than have seized bolts :D so if you ride in salt water, TefGel or disassemble regularly.
Just get the 1/2 mast, will help your learning and double for foiling in shallow water.
I still use the 1/2 mast on my local lake at low tide. But once you learn the early stages thats about all its good for or sell it.
Good information, thanks.
I am about 76kg with 18 years kitesurfing experience with the last few years strapless surfboard in small to medium surf. These days prefer small to occasional good medium surf but mostly small - turned 70 last September.
Very keen to foil kite asap.
