I see there is a Srsw version is this a womans version?
Is the pad also smaller
I'm a size 8 and when I do the straps tight the ratchet cut into the cover as the ratchet catches it, this is due to having to ratchet down so much obviously not a good fit for size 8
To be fair to Shinn, thats less than 24 hours you have waited. You have to remember that these are generally small businesses and not commerce behemoths with dedicated web support teams. For balance, I asked a few questions about a board purchase (by email) and got a direct reply from Mark within a couple of days.
Surprised you are having a problem with the SRS straps. I'm an 8-8.5 (EU42) and I can still tighten the ratchet probably 7 or 8 times easily past my preferred fitting point. Have you checked to make sure the pin at the base of the fitting hasn't come out? There should be a silver pin that sits between the base and the strap. If that is missing/not located properly then you'd need to overtighten to compensate.
Just a side note, shinn have been contacted and No support given.
Just something to keep in mind
How did you miss the info on the homepage? IT IS RIGHT THERE! Mark will probably still waste time of his day to answer ![]()

Would it be possible to see a photo of what your describing
I've always had excellent service when dealing with Shinn. Mark responded personally within a day or so. Bear in mind he's in Europe, so there is a big time difference
Have a few Shinn boards with Shinn sneaker foot pads and the couple of times I've had a problem, Mark has personally responded very quickly and a local dealer provided a replacement part by express post... gear and service is first class!!
Original question regarding the SRSW as in the womens style. It is a smaller pad yes.
I am curious if your pads are set up properly though. Are you confident about that detail? Its just that I have a grom that is rideing a set and his are capable of going very tight and he is a size 7.
When it it comes to shoe sizing it very difficult to use a simple number to define it
With just men's sizes you have US, UK, and European all of them different numbers for the same size
Then you have women's, men's , and kids sizes.
Theres also differences between brands, a UK 9 in a DC shoe is different to a UK 9 in the Merrell shoe.
I also find that I prefer a different size depending on what the shoe is for ie I wear different Uk sizing between my motor bike boot, my dress shoes, and my walking/hiking shoes.
With kiteboarding I would stay away from any any ratchet or boa system of tightening as I find the Velcro systems are a lot more adaptable to my foots length, arch and width.

So how did you go

What sort of velcro system are you refering too? Double each side like APEX? Its just that SRS ratchet just replaces a velcro system. The idea is to negate the need for boots, for those in between. Atlrast thats what it is for me and many others. I can slip jn, anf ratchet them very tight at ease. i used to find the APEX super comfortable but they are impossible to lend to a mate if the mate intends to change the setting. It takes a few sessions to get the setting dialed in.
Yes Adam I am referring to a double system either side like the Apex binding
As far as I can see the SRS ratchet only gives you one point of adjustment if they were more like snowboard bindings and gave two points of adjustments I think they would be better. The other point with the SRSW is they only give you a maximum size and not a minimum.

With the Airush Boost straps they give a minimum and maximum shoe size for the different sizes, it's a pity that Airush don't do the APEX in a small size.

While I agree they can be a bit difficult to get just right. If you are not a retailer how often do you lend you board to a mate. For me maybe once or twice in the two years I've had them.
PS Even as someone with dyslexia I'm finding your spelling bad and I'm struggling to figure out what your saying in parts of your comments. A bit of proof reading would really help to make you seem a bit smarter

Lol Ian, you're a comedian! Or hang on ... wait; do I mean "your a comedian"? ... no I reckon it's definitely you're.
... struggling to figure out what your saying in parts of your comments. OR am I actually struggling to figure out what you're saying in parts of your comments? Mmmm. I'm struggling.
Hey I'm mucking around, don't get upset but I couldn't help the irony lol. I do get your comment about perceptions but it's relative and it's not that accurate. Some super intelligent people aren't great at spelling or grammar; not always a reliable correlation, that's all.

p.s. I agree with others; think Shinn are good, and Mark usually gives great service!
Foam; hope they've contacted you.
The SRS is very simple, tight or slack fit via the ratchet system, similar feel to the old dakines warlocks, your choice
OK.. The issue for me after trying ever possible position on the system, even though I'm a size 8 the top part of my foot is too narrow and high
When I retchet as tight as they allow my foot just slips out.
Unfortunately they realy need to be tried before buying
no. The problem appears to be you.
And how tight do you think your straps need to be?
Why do you need to crank the straps tight across your feet? Just slide in and ride. No dramas.
( best damn boards on the market and excellent customer support! )

I am not a retailer of Apex bindings, yet i still advocate for them as a great system, hmm, strange right? Almost as if, instead of being a "pimp" I just comment on what I know or what I believe in. Il add that I dont give negotive feedback either. It is too small of an industry to make enemies and I generally like knowing I can have a beer with any brand rep.
I found when I used APEX for 4 years I swaped(is that 1 or 2 "p"s) boards and lent mine out atleast once a week, I have alot of friends, and I am told Im very generous. I now find the Shinn straps(i am a retailer) so nice under foot, easy to adjust. They just work for me. I recon the Apex also works great still, though I think the white looked better than the current black, hope thats viewed as constructive and not negative. Lol
I get your point about the size min-max though I dont find it an issue myself. As i stated, I have a grom rideing SRS without a problem. He ratchets them so tight, they can not come off.
Once again Ian, you take a topic and make it a way of personal slander. I dont spend alot of my time on a computer. Emails take me awhile. My spelling isnt great, though I try, in real life i have a broader vocabulary, but i stick to easy words when I type . I consult my wife alot for of spell checking.I have people work on my websites for me.Im too busy with my own work to learn a new skill that I dont have a huge interest in anyway . I do all my social media/forum stuff on my phone and while my hands may not be very big(bigger than Trumps's), neither are my keys. I tend to press a letter next to the letter I intended. Ill apoligies for that, in my haste, i hit send before checks are often complete. Its not the first time you have insinuated i am not very smart. I dont think much of bullys Ian, especially internet keyboard types. Its pretty low, and while I dont lose sleep over your continued jabs. I do hope you havn't targetted someone elsewhere that would. Maybe for the happiness of the world, try and stay on subject a bit Ian.

I kind of see what he means though. The ratchet straps ratchet the top of the strap towards the footpad (rather than all the way around) so you effectively get a squeeze top and bottom but lots of side to side play. To get a locked in feel on the board you end up with quite a tight fit (compared to say my Nobile pads which are looser and still have that locked in feeling).
In support of the original poster, I too had difficulty ratcheting in the Shinn sneaker bindings to get a snug fit. I'm a size 10uk so not the smallest feet so might have something to do with foot shape. In the end I had to cut the plastic pad material on the outside of the foam pads so the nylon strap could tighten more than they could originally. Not ideal but it worked.
