The West Reporter said...

This morning a recreational fisherman reported to Water Police that he had lost fish off his lines and although he did not see the shark believed the predator was responsible.

Now i've heard all the fishing excuses

Maybe the one I saw at woodies last year.. I thought the one I saw was bigger, but my mind might have been playing tricks on me.

THAT shark has been there most of the Winter. Last time I seen her was a couple of months back in Bay 1.

At least 3M nose to tip and a real looker. It likes the deeper trench's in Bay 1.

Dont drop your kite is my best advice.

Heres Ruby

meh, there are always sharks about. keep out of the water at dusk and dawn if you are worried about it, and stay away from schools of fish(look for birds on the surface). Otherwise they should leave u alone

I've seen that b@stard on Friday evening @ Leighton.
I started to screaming "shark, shark" and push everyone out of ocean but then the other guys told me that it's a wale!
Wale doesn't have a fin on top! unless it's a killer wale which is worst.

Always used to make me chuckle watching noobs getting a body dragging lesson way out into the sound of woodies point. If only they knew what may have been lurking!

Snapper are starting their annual spawn in Cockburn Sound at the moment. Used to be easy pickings for the fishos until they banned any taking of snapper from now until December or something. No one told the men in grey suits though!

Shark attach statistics
91.4% of attacks have a male victum
20-24 yr olds are most tasty
White People are the most tasty
Sharks like their meals from 2-4pm
In water less than 5 feet
(www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/shark-attacks/)

Crock Attack statistics
Crocks like their male 31 yr old german tourists the best around this time of year
(www.iucncsg.org/ph1/modules/Crocodilians/attacks.html)

Ok so these stats have a lot of other factors, but i think i'll be fine (even tho i'm in the right age range for those sharks atm...haha)
