I am selling a kite on seasbreeze (7m rebel) and have been asked by a German guy to send it overseas.

He seems legit (so far anyway) and is offering to pay for it upfront on Paypal.
Is this 100% secure if this happens ?

Also what is the best way to go about getting a price to send it to Germany ? - so i can quote him the freight up front ?

Gotta be a scam. A guy from London & Africa contacted me about buying my kite. There are lots of kites in Germany to buy. Why would he get one sent from the other side of the world!! Be careful. Do a search, "scam", on this forum.

Yeah be careful selling Rebels. For some unknown reason I had heaps of guys just wanting to demo mine. Some for only a couple of minutes to a guy that wanted to take them for the whole weekend!!!!

Just sold a kite on ebay to a guy in Moscow.
He paid via paypal and I sent the kite, it eventually arrived and all is good.

To get a quote for postage go into the Auspost website. You'll be up for $150-$200 depending on the weight.

In the last week I've also been contacted by people based overseas to buy kites, this guy was from Canada. He seems legit, asking all the right questions.

I have bought a couple of paragliders from overseas and researched into if it is safe to do so.

As long as you get the money up front it is ok. There is scams going around where they send you what looks like a legit notification from paypal saying the money has been deposited in your account, and will be visable once the goods have been recieved.

Just make sure you have the money in paypal before hand

Following is the e mail reply i received from Marco ;
Seems like a nice guy - what do you think ?

(he is spot on with the knoledge about the Rebel)

The bar would be fine! But I don't need the pump.

I bought a rebel 08 14 qm two years ago! Last year we got two rebel 2009, one 8 qm and the other 10 qm.

But they do not work as fine as the kite from 2008!

The rebels of 2010 seem to rotate even more slowly then those of 2009!

So, in the internet your kite is the one and only Rebel 08 7m I found.

We need a 7m kIte because the winds are about 8-9 Bft. at Fuerteventura in summer and my son

Jan is a 14 year old lightweight.

By the way, I'm not a real doctor - I'm a dentist.

Kind Regards, Marco and Jan
