I am aware of : 1.simply pulling quick release
2.attaching chicken loop to fixed object, like tow bar etc
However is there a way of bringing the kite down on the edge of the window and pulling one of the back lines to self land

Probably better to pull top front line when resting on edge. Pull firmly don't sook it. Will go LE down.

It does not have a top front line within grasp as the initial front line is single and divides into two further up the line, it does not have the line config of a bow or hybrid. This is where the issue is.

Ok i was actually shown this with a 10m Bandit dos, it also works with the regular 08 bandit.

Use at your own risk...

First place your kite on it's wingtip at 9 or 3, let the bar out all the way and let go (i use the shorter de-power rope, not sure if it works with the regular long depower rope) once the kite has settled; walk up the front line untill you reach the Y-splitter; get a good arms length of top-front line and pull down/in, the kite should fall forward onto it's LE.

If your unsure just self rescue as it's probably the safest way to self land.

All good advice but we self land the bandit every day and this works. Bring kite to the edge of the window 9 or 3 as "mixed" said and let the bar go then just grab the centre line which is one into 2 centre front lines and commit to pulling them (hand over hand) until the kite drops on it LE. No need to walk anywhere, although some people like to unhook and walk backwards at the same time to speed the process up especially in strong wind. At the very worse the kite may flag out and drop down wind, but all good as long as you keep hold of the centre lines until it is on its nose.

Depower your kite, bring in down to just off the ground, Grab your front line above the cleat. Pull in about a foot. watch what the kite is doing.

Be careful and make sure the front lines are not going to wrap around the bar. As the kite falls backwards you may need to give a jerk on the top steering line.

If the self land looks like it will be a failure let go of the lines and the kite should sit there.

Obviously it works better in lower winds.

Best bet is to find someone to land your kite if possible.

Thanks for advice, grabbing line above the cleat works well. I have not used it in strong wind, probably prefer flagging method, but you do need a lot of space downwind.
