Anyone have any techniques for self landing these things other than just flagging to the 5th. I tried to self-land like I would land a regular c-kite and it just kept popping up.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You know how to do this.
1.Walk up near the top of the beach in front of the rigging area.
2.Send the kite through the power zone nice and fast.
3.Crash it into the trees.
4.Pack up torn kite and send it to Moti Levi.

No problems I will show you with your kite. My kite can't be crashed as I had an Auto Zenith function installed.

Your better off sticking with a method that gaurantees the kite lands. Watch out for sticks on the beach
Landing using the reride ring generally makes a mess of your rigging.
They're even trying to rig up bow kites to release something like this..............but I recon bows are still a long way from being as functional as an active 5th line kite.

The Rebel is a 5th line kite

Yes.

Good old reliable 5th line.
Turns the kite into a fully controllable puppet, even if the lines break.

I'm looking for techniques other than the 5th line flagging. I really don;t want to have to do that every day!

Any thoughts appreciated.

just drop it onto its leading edge...easy as...

grab the rear top line some fifth line pull and it should drop onto its leading edge into the wind...works most times.

Bring the kite to the edge of the window a few metres off the ground. Then steer the kite towards the ground .Just as one corner of the kite touches the ground grab the fifth line and pull it towards you. This will pull the kite down onto the ground. I have used this method in light winds but wouldn't recommend it in stronger winds. When pulling the fifth line make sure you pull a fair amount of line towards you (1to2meters).Hope this makes some sense

This kite flags beautifully on the 5th. If you're really looking for another option, put an grab handle on one of the back lines (while still keeping the 5th as a fully functional safety).

Agree. Works every time for me, but you have to pull quite a bit on the 5th line just when the the tip of the kite is about 1m off the ground.
Try it, it works fine.
