Broke 2 of my lower ribs last season crashing a kite loop. Healed now but the impact was so severe that those ribs are angled out a bit and this is now really annoying me when riding powered with a waist harness.

Tried different waist harnesses but all no good so i see only 1 solution and that is to go to a seat for 25k+ jump & kiteloop sessions. What is the best seat I should choose for this?

PS: for wave or unhooked sessions I will stick to my waist harnesses as I prefer the mobility. Only need seat for high wind boosting & looping when upward forces in the spreader are max.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Dakine vega, only a 1 season bit of kit though, due to being very lightweight , also keep an eye on spreader bar fatigue, mystic do some durable ones but are quite bulky in feel, the boa system works a treat for a perfect fit

Latest models seem to have less padding and to be aimed for racing (e.g. Ion Echo seat harness) than older models (e.g. Underwave Atlantis seat kite harness). I use the Underwave seat harhess since 2010, still like it and love it in gusty 35-50 knots winds.

+1 for Dakine Nitrous shorts. Had mine for several seasons and still going strong. And the Dynabar sliding hook is a must.

Ouch, two broken ribs, you will be feeling that for years, i have both waist and seat harnesses and use them both for different applications, my seat is the nitros shorts, they are my go to for about 80% of my riding. But I have had one side of the stitching rip out mid boost after 7 months of use on my previous set, in saying that i have a new pair as i love them, no crushed ribs or wriggling the harness down.

Thanks Guys,

Mystic looks indeed way to bulky. Will be looking in Dakine seat options as I see they actually offer 3 types. I hope to narrow down a few options and than just go to the shop to try some on to see which diaper fits best for my purpose. Any "must consider" from other brands perhaps like the kite combo from flying objects? I like the mid height idea of the hook. I think it will feel a bit more natural as I am used to riding a waist for the last 10 years.

I am currently using dakine seat and number ?6 is worn out. how is the pro limit with wetsuits? does it affect size needed? looks like good support

The Pro limit seems ok, in winter I use it with a 4/3 wetsuit. Its the most comfortable and supports where your butt actually is.
Ive tried a lot of brands and some models that are meant to be the 'bees knees' and felt like crap as soon as you hook onto something ! and wasted my money

It comes in small medium large and has fully adjustable straps - but definitely dont buy one unless you can try one on.... a bit like buying wetsuits

+1 for the Dakine Nitrous shorts, been using them for everything since 2006. Most important tho is to get the size right, if too big they ride up and crush those sensitive parts. Ive found one size under normal shorts size works for me, even if first off the shorts wont close, everything stretches after first session. Not been able to find a better, more flexible low hook harness.

Cheers DK

My lower back tweaks, so I bought a Gaastra seat harness from Kite Addiction - black and silver colour. It seems to sit a bit higher than the usual seat harnesses - with a hook just above the belly button. Works a treat when blundering around on the 12m when there would be lots of 'pull' that would drive your ribs insane. Even works stapless when I usually need the loose 'swivel' of a chest harness to keep connecting point of the lines away from the centre of my body and running off from a spot nearer to the outside of my torso, as if they are connect to my hips.

The flying objects combo seat is the mutts nuts very comfortable yet still gives you flexibility at the waist. Good for old school stuff , especially if your into jumping in windy weather, no more sore ribs with this harness
