Portuguese border control has impounded my kites and wants me to pay a lot of duty to get it out.

faark man, that's really unfortunate. I don't know the user but I live in Yeppoon, let me know if I can help out.

Really? Why did you need that. We are headed to Portugal. Was it at the airport? Or driving through into Spain?

Geez European nations sound broke.

Are you on holidays or do you live there?

I was travelling western/north Europe before I was coming to Portugal/spain/morocco so got it sent to Portugal instead of lugging it around with me (still cheaper than renting).

Thought it would arrive on the first then the last tracking feed information was that it is being held by a 'border import authority'.

Contacted CTT express the Portuguese mail company and they have been supremely unhelpful as to how to get my stuff out and keep giving me numbers for other third parties for 'more information'.

I think I need to send a proof of purchase and some identification in.

Might include the postal invoice which will list the sender address as my address.

Hoping this solves my problems.

Anyone has anyone suggestions feel free!

Are they new? If so like any country you bring new equipment into you'll be liable to their taxes, in not then you shouldn't have any dramas, get friendly with a local and get them to go through the nitty gritty, it's hard trying to understand paperwork with limited language skills
