Hello Melbournites... with the winter squalls we have come to expect each season make sure you give yourself plenty of safe distance downwind.

BBQ'd kite is never great...

Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity by flying a kite.

I honoured Franklin's legend with a similar discovery. See what may happen in kiteboarding with too much speed, power lines, and a beginner. Shot in Boracay's Bulabog Beach with a GoPro2. Many thanks to the professional staff at Ocean Republic for their help.

Bzzzzzzt!!! I wish Ben Franklin is proud of me.

I'm really surprised he didn't get electrocuted. I wonder if some bars are designed in order to prevent this....
I think he should count himself lucky.

When i'm kiting in stormy conditions i get quite big electric shocks from Static discharge whenever i do a jump, others around me didn't seem to have the same shocks, so it suggests some bars transfer electricity differently.

I would like to know if he was holding the bar when it hit the lines or if he had let go, i wonder if it makes a difference..perhaps not. Maybe the bar was submerged?

here's a Benjamin Franklin article.
