Between the rabid sharks, psychotic blue mannas, bi polar stingrays and now turd stew, this whole area isn't worth the trip.
PS, The Norflolk Pines along the foreshore are getting so big (and will be much bigger soon with all this fertiliser) the wind strength is approx. 5 knots less than the rest of Perth...![]()
I also heard that this summer parking meters will be installed and possibly a license will be mandatory. License cannot be purchased, Safety Bay community work such as cleaning the beach, protecting the birds habitat on Tern island etc. will allow accumulating points eventually leading to such license. Tests will be carried out regularly including ROW (circuit overwrites regular ROW in the particular section of the pond) obedience. Short tacker, abusers and those who run into other kiters or tomahawk their kites onto others or are unable to launch and land in a safe manner will lose their license. Further measures to be announced before the summer season.
I wonder how many people walked their dog through that stench, went home and complained about it on Facebook but didn't bother to ring Watercorp?

You've got to be joking. If I decide to take a trip down there next summer (like the one or two times last summer) they can stick their "license" where the sun doesn't shine. Common courtesy and etiquette is the only license I'll be bringing to the beach and enjoying myself as I please.
Will the kite police have blue lights on their kites?

I can confirm this. Got a mate of a mate at rocko council who said parking meters are planned to be installed in december. The rangers are apparently going to visit the pond frequently and fining people for being near the dunes even setting up as restricted area. Havent heard about the liscencing yet but will probably go to woodies now.
My CoR contact says beach front residents have complained regarding parking along the pond (maybe from wicked vans and hairy man bums blocking the view?). Metering is a typical means to reduce ratepayer complaints (or be seen as attempting to resolve) while making some revenue. Quite normal council response.
Other complaints were received from residents and "SB yacht club" users, including parents of the kids martial arts classes - struggling for a park there due to campers for extended periods through summer. The Rangers played diplomatic and monitored the situation. I've been told things will change next summer and fines will be issued to people "camping" in the ponds surrounding carparks.
Sounds like a change is in the wind down there. As with the beach front demographic changing, bringing wealthier rate payers into the mix.
I know a few years back a similar crack down on campers happened at Scarbs after similar complaints from residents. One resident wrote Brighton carpark resembled a "freeloader caravan park". Stirling council went as far as installing mobile neon traffic management boards with fine warnings to keep the campers away. Maybe they can erect on the pond bank flashing "no short tracking, double demerits" ![]()

Those poor martial arts parents... the whole 2 campers (who have every right to be parked there while kiting) must have been parked pretty badly to take up the whole carpark
.
Paying to go for a kite is a joke, I don't support parking meters at beaches anywhere. We should be promoting outdoor/ watersport activity to the masses not stunting it.
But Rowdy you have to think of the little ones,. what's going to be better for them, I'm pretty sure teaching violence in a small room is far better for our community than playing at the beach. (Sorry if sarcasm doesn't work via txt sometimes:)
Except Gazuki those practising martial arts are usually the most peaceful individuals while some especially when drunk who then believe they are Bruce Lee are the f@ckwits causing trouble. And the way the pond is heading it will require martial arts skills to defend oneself from attacks caused by kites gone wild (and owners out of control or clueless or both). Nothing to do with the yacht club parking though...
Looks like Woodies is gonna get real this coming summer. As for the trees... what does it matter. They are on the Leeward side of the pond anyways...
