Looking at buying a new board, and applying the surftech strap system,
has anyone used these ? are they any good ?
do they have a 4 screw system or 2 ?

Not a lot of info on that site about the strap system.
I always aim for 4 screws, as I find the 2 screw systems come loose, twist & turn and end up wrecking the strap. Or the screw comes out right in the middle of a good session!
Guess you've looked at the kitesurfing dedicated boards which already have the strap systems inbuilt?

iv put straps on a few surf boards now, got the incets and straps from catapult kiteboarding cost about 120 i think.
just router out the hole along side the stringer, dont tear the stringer appart as you will weaken the board and will snap when you do a hard turn, dremil is an easy tool to use, the incerts come with a sheet of where to measure and place them on the board.
fix them in by taping around the site, apply plenty of epoxy resin - slow setting areldite to the hole and wipe it on the incert, put 2 match sticks in the hole to jiggle it around and help all the air escape, works easy, i use contact adhesive for the foot pads.
2 screw tho.
I had the surftech system on my Webber (which is now for sale)
The actual straps it comes with are crap. Really crap, they hurt and cut your feet. Changed mine to Cabrinhas
The glue is also sh!thouse, so be prepared for a trip to Bunnings to pick up some toxic super sticky sealeys glue.
The pads are lovely, nice and thick and prevent heel dents and add strength.
The inserts are good too, you can screw in two screws for each end of the strap, by applying a bit of lock tight the screw will never come out
I recommend them, tho they are expensive at $200

So if you are thinking about doing a D.I.Y. Bear in mind that adding inserts will change the boards structural characteristics, sometimes for the worst. You can actually make the board weaker, and more prone to snap or let go at ether end of the insert block and this is a classic place for water to enter your board. A Smaller two holed insert, is better than a long 5 hole one .. so cut it in half and get the position right for you. The other thing with long 5 hole insert blocks is they will change the flex characteristics, especially on the tail. Remember the board wants to flex but the block don't.
For a polly board kinda anything goes, if you are desperate you can cut some bits of the end of your broom handle and glass them in , do a pilot hole and strap it up with brass screws, cost $10.00.
Or ....... Block of wax! $2.
