To clebrate the release of Ben's New instructional dvd SMACK we thought we'd share the intro here on SEABREEZE. The music is from band called IALONE - They are an AUstralian band based in Sydney. We used their music exclusively throughout the dvd. This clip is just the intro - all the how to tips follow on from this and we will post some of them in the next articles that Ben does here on Seabreeze,
The dvd is out today( avail online) and will be avail in stores by next week.
The editing was done by Perth's own Shannon Stent

How come a blatant ad for a product has been allowed on here at all????

Share??? So do Maccas 'share' a sneak preview of their two-all-beef-patties.... or are they showing an ad of their schlock?

Pimpidy, pimp, pimp...

This video has already been promoted and sanctioned by Laurie in the Articles section where Ben has written 2 articles on Wave Riding with an ad for the video at the end - so not pimping really.

Pimping is fine (if thats what you want to call it) when its great info like this.
Whats this forum for if not to keep us all up to date with the hottest latest gos.

And btw: Awesome music - from a band I have never heard of as well - double bonus. I'll certainly be checking IALONE out. Might just be a more valuable pimp than the movie

I think the articles section is a bit diff to the forum pages and I still think it's flogging a product (repeatedly) not info, but s'ok I spose if most aren't bothered by a bit of fur coat n trilby hat riding in the caddy action...

Swapping some hard earned info - handy, usable stuff for a few pixels space to promo what looks like a product many of us would be interested in - seems like a fair deal to me.

Yo Dave, big right-hander is P-pass on the Island of Pohnpei, an Island part of Micronesia or the Caroline Islands as they are advertised. Fly Continental Airlines via Guam. It is heavy....

Yes, interesting product but I agree with getfunky - it's a matter of consistently applying forum rules here. Count the infringements ...

"A special story about advertising:

Some forum members are site sponsors, you'll see a "Site Sponsor" link under their name. These members have purchased banner advertising which they use to display their brand and make offers about products and services they have available. This works well for everybody.

We ask that sponsors:
* avoid starting new topics to promote product/demo days,
* avoid posting direct invitations to purchase,
* avoid posting links to their website,
* avoid posting price lists, sale brochures, bargains, "stock clearance" etc.
* avoid posting compeitions without checking with us beforehand........" from Posting Guidelines

Just thought I d give my thoughts on the DVD.

It is definitly a bi pricey but I thought I d give it a go anyway to support the guy and his effort.

Nice quality editing, some good footage and overall pleasant to watch.

However as far as I m conerned there is little or nothing instructionnal about that DVD. For me the key message is "learn to paddle surf and you ll be good". Ben Wilson is obviously a skilled surfer and only real advices are on how to do surf tricks. Was expecting more on kite positionning, kite movements, actual footage of how to rescue in waves and so on. All these aspects are mentionned but no real instruction given so to speak.

Have to say I m a bit disappointed in the end especially given price of DVD.

Have very good customer suppor though regarding shipping and so

I recently watched smack, im reviewing it for the next issue of KBM.

Briefly i thought:
- great footage
- great editing
- great information

Basically you can access as much information as you want from the DVD. It doesn't ram info down your throat, it is straight to the point and goes through every aspect of wave riding. Dont know what frenchie is talking about, perfect instructional for kiters to get into waves.

Will have a detailed review in the next KBM

I watched the DVD last night and give it the thumbs up. Ben explains the foundation of what you need to know to improve in the waves while the footage and editing lets you see exactly how its done with plenty of slowmo's etc .. and more than that gets you amped to go ride and push your riding to a new level.

Dustin, from what I'm reading, it's more for people who have a surfing background and are already an intermediate+ kiter. Would that be correct to say? - maybe why Frenchman had some trouble?

I wouldnt say intermediate +, I rekon once a kiter has 'the basics' down he/she would be ready for it (confident on a board, upwind stuff like that). In regards to surfing skill the movie goes into detail on what is needed to perform each trick (bottom turn, top turn, slash etc) so that isn't really needed either though moves like that can take a few years (in surfing) to be done correctly

Yeah Brucex, went to there myspace page and clicked on the link "buy cd"
Money has come out of my account 2 weeks ago and still no cd and no responds from trying to contact them.
Shouldnt have wasted my money trying to support an aussie band and should have just burnt it off a mate. Not happy Jan...
Not your fault mate, just warning others to be cautious.
Really like their sound, want to hear the rest of their songs, but feel ripped off, left a bad taste in my mouth.
