Honestly this summer has been a dud for Brisbane kiters! There's been hardly any wind , hardly any seabreeze it would be over 2 weeks now since we've had decent wind. The next wind forecasted is basically a southerly change bringing in rain and blasting over 35knots of cold wet rainy weather over Christmas and New Years. I've kites for over the last decade here. This isn't normal, it's enough to put anyone off the sport!
Does anyone agree?
It's almost a carbon copy of last year at this point with the exception of some bigger SE'lys coming off a couple of big ridges. This time last year pretty sure it was ****ty light easterlies for weeks. The years before that I was wishing the seabreeze would take a day off to let me recover.
I don't think there is any such thing as normal when it comes to weather patterns.....
Been pretty good on the goldy and prolly similar to kemp, at three days a week regularly.
As for the last two weeks, have had seven sessions all on the twinnie with only one kite size.....my trusty old 11m, gets me out from 14-30 knts
The last two weeks has been abit hit and miss on the Sunshine coast, prior to that was consistent northerlies.
I'm putting an end to the wind in WA as I will be over next week and surprise surprise wind kicks in Brisbane and drops in Perth.
Not sure why everyone is so sad... had a fun little downwinder on my 9m and surfboard, yesterday at coolum.
Good 20knots, 2ft and warm water.
Cant complain at all
Merry christmas
I just arrived in BrisVegas for xmas with the inlaws (from Syd), pretty happy with the forecast for the next few days!!
I'm fairly close to Sandgate / Brighton. Is it worth the drive to Caloundra? Or how's it around Redcliffe? Only have a 10m and TT with me.
Calondra river mouth (happy valley) on outgoing tide is great fun. Well worth the drive for a day out.
Brighton best in SE winds. Bribie sandstone point also fun.

yesterday was great on the Sunny Coast
but wind has been a bit lane for the last week and a half
forecast looks unreal
Both were over 10 foot weren't they? Seems all the sharks are on the Sunny Coast at the moment and Brisbane is the safe place to kite.
If you like flat water stay at Brighton or Sandgate but not on full tide! Head to suttons beach Redcliffe it's only 10 minutes away
That forecast is ridiculous.
But it gets better... Looks like its bringing swell as well!
That keen for it.
So I went to Sandgate at 11am, there was one kiter out and virtually no beach to speak of. No idea where he launched from. Then went to Redcliffe, same again one kiter out, about 10m of sand on the beach and looking sketchy.
Then I drove to Caloundra and it was Awesome!! With the forecast the way it is I didnt want to come back! Might hit it again somewhere tomorrow.
Cheers
Had such a fun kite today at Happy Valley.
Some blokes were boosting to the moon.
A dead skippy floated past me.
A dead skippy floated past me.
ay ay ay ayyy no need to get racist there mate im half euro aswell
but seriously dont want to mission it all way down south to caloundra anything with flat water between noosa and there in this wind? thinking cotton trees off the cards?
On a SE you can have a fun time at CT.
Just gets light next to the Caravan Park.
I'd pass on CT this week.
