I am considering replacing my 12m 2009 Switchblade to something more fun and adult.
I have a 13m C4 but haven't really flown it until last weekend. Basically just haven't had enough wind for it. Now that i've flown it i am in love but the issue is that it has no low end and needs much more wind than my 12m SB to get me going.
Therefore i'm thinking to get something to replace the SB that has enough grunt to get me out of the water and up in the air long before the C4 will get out of the bag.
does anyone know how the 13m Edge compares to the 13m C4 - and how would it compare to hte SB for lighter winds?
Open to any other suggestions on options to replace the Cabs.
Cheers.
you haven't said what style of riding you want to do. It makes a big difference in what type of kite you should get. Having said that the delta shapes seem to be the best for light wind fun
I'd be very suprised if you are kiting beyond the limits of your SB.......
The SB s are fairly grunty kites with a good bottom end..... You could however consider a Bandit they are also know to be quite grunty and still a delta type shape.
Shorten the back line on the C4.. Out of the factory they use the middle knot adjustment...
No way the SB 12m have more low end then a C4 13m!!!
I know for sure as have flown both back to back in 2010 models...
And C4 2011 has a bit better low end.

I have the 13m Edge and an 11mC4,I weigh 95 kg dry. Ride an underground 142 styx.
I have riden the SB.
The 13m edge has huge grunt way more than any other 13m I have riden. It boosts very well with long hang time. It is slow to turn but with practice you can get used to this. It will loop but it is more of a sweep turn. I enjoy doing kiteloop transitions on this kite but you have to have plenty of hieght at the start in order to get the kite around. I can get going on this in about 12 knots. I have flown this kite in over 30 knots and had a blast. The C4 turns quick and also boosts extremely well although it behaves quite differently. It loops really nice. i don't get the C4 out of the bag unless it is over 25 knots. I have stuck with this combo for this season as it works really well for me. Agree with Jankie this years C4 has better bottom end
Hello Kimpa,
if you have with the adjuster you need to pull to the maximum.
Make the back line as short as possible and fly with the red ball against the cleat.
But the new bar for 2011 doesn't have adjuster!
I'm really sure of what I'm saying as really we use both kites for me and the local school. Still even in 2010 models power is about 1,5 meter less.
C4 13m = SB 12m
C4 12m = SB 11m
C4 11m = SB 10m
etc.
One day there was a guy with a new SB 2011 on 10m size and we switch with my 2010 C4 12m and I had more low end...
The Edge 13m have about the same power as Switchblade 14m but turn slower then SB14m.
Hope this can help.
