Would you take your kid (+/-13) to the beach to fly a kite (on the beach!) whilst waiting for a massive Southerly wind front to kick in? As in:

Maybe I'm too protective of my kids... ![]()
Btw he is referring to something that went down at Long Reef tonight not the incident from a few weeks ago.
And yes someone I heard got hurt. Not sure if it was the kid or not.

I had no idea an accident happened (although I'm not surprised).
Those who know me, know I too will kite in 45kn Southerlies. But I wont be standing on the beach with my kite in the air waiting for it to hit, and I wont put my kids in that situation, FFS.
The fact that its so soon after the tragedy from last week just makes it so much harder for me to comprehend why anyone would do this.
Hope whoever got hurt today is okay and got away with only learning a hard lesson.
Hey Dutchy, It always stressed me out trying to teach my kids how to kite. So many hazards. Windsurfing turned out to be a more relaxing and family friendly activity. I got to teach them all about the wind and the wife could do it too.
To comprehend many of these reported and unreported life endangering situations that occur...
You have to step back and view the reality that before some people became parents - they were idiots, Retards, figjammers and morons.
Let's not be sexist here, both male and female..
Becoming a Parent does not mean you instantly become wise with common sense or good judgement... it just makes them a retarded parent who learns to change nappies...
It's unfortunately Always going to be this way.
You can't help people who "won't accept" there is a problem..
Hindsight has taught me many valuable lessons.
alzhiemers makes it to no avail.
including how to spell it.
Need more details about the accident so that we can learn from it ![]()
Bad kite loop and busted ear drum. Something like that... The one guy was quite competent in the water but the other not so much. That being said, It just felt like something was going to happen the entire time... I just drank beer and did not get the courage to injure myself. Drove home with brand new kites which was very hard to do!
