I fly Revs & have 07 models 11m & 13m plus 08 9m.
My problem is with Rev11m. In the past few sessions I've experienced a 'sticking' of the bar on the left. The usual movement up/down the bar as you sheet in/out seems stuttered on the left side. I've checked the bar and slot - no apparent catching there. The result is the kite flies as if the line is shorter and the kite flies left no matter what the travelling aspect. If you sheet in/out agressively it momentarily corrects itself.
I think it may be the pulleys but not sure. I put new kite-lines (not flying lines) on the canopy a few weeks ago with no immediate problems. At the time the kite shop guys said that the pulleys were OK. I've cleaned and checked them and they appear to run freely.
I've also checked flying lines lengths and after some minor stretching they seem OK. I also use same bar for 13m and don't have this problem so don't think its the bar/lines set up. If it is the pulleys any suggestions besides replacing with Rev parts. Thanks for any suggestions![]()
You'll prob find that that the 11m does this much worse in its higher wind range. I've found with mine (9m)that the front lines havent stretched, but the knots are slightly different lengths apart. Try the middle knots on the front lines instead of the end ones. The end ones change after time
First, your Revs must be 08 & 09 as they only came out in 08. That aside though when you refer to replacing the "kite lines" on the canopy I am assuming you are talking about the pig tails only. If you are using the same bar on another kite and there are no line length problems then I would suggest that the bridal lines have stretched unevenly. This can happen as well. I had an 08 Rev and replaced these once in 12 months of use.
The lines I'm referring to are the red and white lines that run through the pulley on each side of the kite. The ones that tend to fluff up. Same as the lines on your bar, if they stretch unevenly your kite will steer to one side.
You may be able to tell by flying your kite overhead. If one pulley is nearer the trailing edge than the other then this is the case. Otherwise take the lines out and check the length of one against the other. If you replace these it should be problem solved.
I can't explain the sticking/catching issues.
I can almost guarantee the the P-lines have shrunk (yes-shrunk) as a result of wear by the pulleys.
compare the lengths of the red a white lines that the pulleys run along and if they differ, replace them (hopefully still under warranty)
Consider replacing the pulleys too, if they are the prob you will quickly wear the new P-lines aswell. Those pulleys suck for jamming with sand, so look after them.
The P-lines for the Rev 1 and Rev 2 are different sizes, so determine which one you have before organising new parts.
good luck
To all, thx for advice (a great feature of this site & our sport).
I guess I mean 08/09 models. The Rev in question is a 11m Rev 08 model. It was the bridal lines that I recently replaced. I'll check their lengths again and also replace the pulleys.
