Hi Folks
appologies for the new thread but the old one is too old to reply now.
I was very interested to read this thread over the winter and pulled my kite out this morn to measure the P lines.
First question - do you measure the full line, from larks head on the one end to the bottom knot on the other? (it looks like the knot section is on this line but i didnt disassemble to be sure)
If so mine are 2020 which is 50mm longer than the 1970 quoted here for a Rev 2 9m?
If not where should they be measured to?
Thanks in advance
Contact Slingy and give them the year and size of the kite and they should send you replacement lines. I was lead to believe it was covered under warranty but I could be mistaken.
I don't know whether used Rev 2 P lines would be covered under warranty, as the usage is fair wear and tear as normally when the lines age they twist and shorten? I think. BWS was replacing P lines that went out as incorrect lengths from the factory, but after months of waiting when we ordered ours for 8m & 10m Noise kites, they never arrived so we made home mods from Dano's specs that seem to be working ok.
Yeah, wasn't too sure but it doesn't hurt to ask..... Even if you don't get it under warranty they can tell you the length of the P lines and you can replace them easily yourself.
Go to a chandlery and replace the pulley's while you are at it, you will find they are showing signs of wear and they are actually the cause of the twisting of the P lines. If you don't replace the pulleys the P lines will twist prematurely again.
Cheers
hmmmmmmm, I thought the lines for a Rev2 9 were 1970mm. The rev 1 were longer and people were buying those and putting a figure 8 knot in them to shorten them, the took the knot out later as they shrunk.
Forget spending 25 bucks on a good pulley, just buy some stainless steel rings and replace them with that. My understanding is that the noise kites come that way and they haven't been having the same issues.
The Revs are a great kite and a simple mod keeps them in the air longer
I wasn't 100 percent sure myself,,, hence the hmmmm. I did make new plines myself at that measurement and the kite flys great...
