Hey guys,

I am pretty keen on advancing and learning old school (air style) tricks and the next step looks like getting a micro loop to have both hands free for board offs etc.

Has any one had any experience retro fitting a microloop and hook to a bar? Yes I know you can get a stopper ball or a deathly windsurfing harness loop but it seems the go is the micro loop. I know core and north had micro loops or the option for one a couple of years ago but couldn't find anything cheap in the buy/sell section.

So my question is has anyone made one for a bar? Has anyone drilled holes and put pop rivets in a bar, would that make it very weak? My plan was to attach/glue a stopper ball to the PVC de-power tube just above the QR, somehow making that a hook for the loop. Then making a dyeneema loop for the bar with pvc tubing either tied on to the bar or drilled/fixed in.

Any tips or tricks from anyone who has tried it would be greatly appreciated!!

i'd avoid drilling any holes near the centre of the bar if i were you, especially as the points will be taking load.

would it be easier to build a 2 loop bar like the really old school ones? have a chicken and a fixed loop so you hook into the fixed one when you want to jump and still have depower when you're riding.

maybe make a fixed loop with an eye spliced into each end so you have a lark's head to attach around the bar rather than drilling into it. take the ends off the bar then slide the fixed loop on...or is this what you mean by a 'deathly windsurfing harness loop'?

or you could try to find an old cabrinha bar from 04/05 when they had that weird twisty hook cleat thing that locked the bar down...

Hey doycle, I am looking at doing exactly the same thing. Have used the deathly windsurfing loop as suggested by my local shop and yes, did nearly die, but I am thinking along the same lines as what stamp is suggesting in just tying the loop to the bar and fixing a hook somewhere on the CL. Are u still on Ozones mate?
Let me know how u go and I will do the same when I get mine done
Good Luck

not interested in trying it myself but , what about getting a cleat (similar to the ozone depower one) and just clip it on the line above the bar ,,, it would stop the bar throwing out and you could easily unclip it (just hang it of a keeper line or something) when not needed ...

just an idea ...

could even hook one end of the cleat to your safety so if you pulled your release it would also pull the cleat off and still flag out your kite .

or if you have a hunt around, the old core bar comes with a mini loop and hook, so its good to go

Two webbing loops, stiff 4mm rope and a piece of plastic tubing works a treat
