Can anyone who flew both say in the last two years please comment on which of the two has the lighter bar pressure. Tendonitis sucks. Thanks
Not sure I can help with the comparison but Reo's on the last loop is the fastest setting and the least bar pressure. I've not had elbow issues since flying Reo's. Also, flying one handed most of the time helps too.
Ive a quiver of reos. 2014 and 2015. Good kites, i like them.
Tested a mates airush wave a few months ago (2013 or 2014, not too sure) and the bar pressure was dramatically less. So light... im considering switching just on that factor alone.
Not saying they are better kites but they definitely are lighter pressure. And i use the reos on the light setting also.
Each year the bar is lighter Specially V4 Model which is under a new design program I have had all models from 2014 ,Best to demo
There are various treatments for tendonitis - the one that worked best for me was not wrapping the thumb around the bar, I.e. only using the fingers to grip the bar - problem solved. Reos are pretty light at the bar, no idea about Waves. Worth trying some treatment though as can be cheaper than new kites, just not as much fun
Thanks guys for the input. Had tendonitis on the one arm for a year despite various treatments, exercises and stretching. Now got it on the other arm. Will try grabbing the bar that way Hunter thanks.
Naish kites also have very light bar pressure, also worth mentioning both Naish & Airush have pulleys. (I think that's why it's lighter)
I had tennis elbow too
first the right then left arm.
For me doing heaps of stretches that targeted the right spot eventually sorted it out but took a good 6 months.
Good topic guys. I took a neo on a surf trip and although its an incredible wave kite, I found it so heavy on the bar. By the end of the trip I could barely pack up my gear at then end of each session, even after adjusting all the settings to move the weight onto the harness. I have since bought an evo and it seemingly flies the same but far lighter bar pressure and far friendlier on my tendonitis.
Would love to know if there are any good exercises for keeping on top of the pain, apart from my technique of tonnes of Panadol.
Are you talking about the slingshot wave sst? I ride them and yes they have more bar pressure than the Reo. Depends on the rider I prefer the feel and direct contact. I find a bit of sup paddling helps relieve pain and strengthen the area.

As far as I understand it is both tendonitis. Tennis elbow means the pain is on the outside of the underarm. Golfers elbow means pain is on the inner side of the underarm.

I had a similar, not tennis elbow but was tendonitis in the area where your triceps connect to your elbow
what fixed it for me was hanging off your arms rather than supporting your body weight with your arms. you should be able to let go of the bar and your body wont really move position at all. i also ride with my thumbs on the outside, or on the bottom of the bar to get more torque when turning it
i was getting tendonitis with any kite, even super light bar pressure ones like the older envy. now i can fly anything without pain, even c kites.
