On my 07 9m Rebel one of the one way valves on a strut isn't working. Sometimes when i pull the pump out of the one way valve, it doesn't work at all and the air rushes out. Other times the air slowly comes, and other times the valve works fine and no air comes out at all! I find if I yank the pump out really quickly, the valve closes off and i have no problems, but most of the time it doesn't. Can anyone tell me what i can do to fix this as it is really annoying having to take 20mins out of my session to pump one tiny strut up ![]()
Any help appreciated, thanks.
Felixk,
I have had the same problem with my Rebel's.
Just lay the kite out and find something with a larger diameter than the valve, I used a 30mm length of pvc pipe about 25mm dia. Just put it over the valve and put some weight on top that will then press the non return flap flat, leave it like that for say 12-24hrs and it should fix the problem.
Naturally don't leave the deflate sticks in the kite.
Kind of did the same thing as slack but took the strut bladder out of the kite, soaked it in boiling water and same thing, but didnt wait 24 hours, just till it cooled
Had the same problem with my Rebel the last time I tried to pump it up. Admittedly I did leave the deflating sticks inside. Don't fancy boiling my bladder. Will try Slack's idea.
Try a smijen of vaso on a match and lubricate the entry of the valves as this will greese the rubber, ensure no sand is present...after time the rubber fittings seem to perrish and deform which may be why air is escaping because the shutoff flap is not seating...... will compliment Slacks idea to flatten the rubber again
Yeah specially if you have left the sticks in on a really hot day, then cooled, I've had that issue and then after a while they just sorted them selves out!
