Hey all, I've got a 08 rebel 12m I bought 2nd hand recently.

I'm after some tuning advice as its the first 5 line kite ive had and it seems to be flying too far forward overhead when at 12o clock and threatening to drop out of the sky. I'm wondering if the 5th line is too tight (when depower fully extended, 5th line is pretty taught). I've got the adjustment thats half way up the 5th line fully out though. Am I correct in my thinking that the 5th line should be basically pretty slack at all times? Or does it serve to shape the kite a bit?

The kite seems to fly alright once out on the water, although ive noticed in gusts the bar tends to pulse left to right.
I've only had a chance to play around in pretty gusty conditions so I can't get a really accurate idea of whats going on..
Ive measured the 4 flying lines and they are equal length - how long should the 5th lne be in relation to these?

Any advice appreciated.
Cheers,
Macca

I'm not sure about the 08 rebel but with the 07 rebel all 5 lines should be the same length...

I tried playing around with the 5th line length when I was on vacation and the 08's do need the 5th line to keep it's shape.

If you let the bar fully out while the kite is headed up to 12 it will over fly you, I just keep a hand on the bar if you keep the smallest amount of tension on the lines as it gets to 12 it shouldn't over fly you. Once the kite is at 12 you can let go of the bar and it won't over fly, but it will drift around and mine have a tendancy to fly to one side or the other
