Yeah looks like the secret was just being able to power upwind. That first bouy was a killer, all the fatties were struggling. I couldn't even get up there on my board on the second attempt.
I'd like to see how well the race boards go when you can ride them. They would have been the way to go but with 4 1ft long fins and no way to centre your balance other than doing the worlds biggest pooman stance it was hard to get used to.
Bring on the next one!
Race Day No.2 this friday. (19th November)
All the shortcomings of race day No.1 have been addressed and we hope making the first mark shouldn't be such a chore. You should be able to get more races in as well with the new format.
Wind is looking good (green arrows). New riders welcome, everyone still has a chance to win.
See beginning of this post for details and we'll keep you up to date over the next few days.
Whats the new format?
Is seabreeze the main place for posting about the race?
Don't make it to easy to get to the first mark ![]()
PS: kite33R
Your avitar is having a bad hair day ![]()
My new strategy is to use a race board to get upwind, bail the board and bounce downwind just looping and bodydragging to the last bouy, then i'll have a second board at the last bouy to ride back to the beach.... its gotta be a sure win..
Wind has been cranking from the South overnight and even though the graphs are offline this morning its still very windy down here at Dolls Pt.
Overnight there were gusts to 40 knots.
I'll make a post to this thread around 1pm to make a final decision on the race tonight, chances are it will be on, as the wind is predicted to drop a bit over the day.
Start time will be 5pm, need competitors on the beach ready to go by 4.30, and volunteers to help out should be at Dolls by 4pm.
We will be setting the buoys at approx 3.30om
To all those that will be competing this afternoon, I'll be issuing numbered wrist bands for easy identification.
Winds have moderated but still its still blowing around 20 knots from the South, by the time the first race starts at 5.00pm the tide will be assisting too.
So THE RACES ARE ON!!
See you all there.
What a another great RACING friday!!! Especially attemp to bodydrag to the first buoy and final race "everybody in a water" with tremendous finish
...
Also big thanks to Newcastle group comming up to the Sydney to compete in the race. What a shame you cant make it next time

So the major prize Of the Cabrinha $1000 voucher is up for grabs, anyone already in the racing series can win, or anyone entering for the first time at the next round on the 3rd December, can win it. Prizes for 2nd and 3rd (donated by Kitepower and WS&S) are equally up for grabs, because the final results are taken from the 4 best rounds, all riders can drop their 2 worst results or simply enter and win/place highly for the next 4 rounds to take out one of the major prizes.
I'll be posting some excellent pics of the 2nd round soon taken by Ian Rumbell.
One and Two for the day Waiting for their next heat
Jeff Body dragging to the lead
Marine coming in to win another race
Thanx to all the voluntaries and participants
I've got a lot more photos If you were there and want to look at more PM me
How's the forecast looking for today? I saw a puff of wind out there this morning but will the tide be hurting us? Fingers crossed there's enough for it.

I've just been over to Dolls and there is approx 16-18 knots of wind out there. I think we should try to have the race.
Tide is going the wrong way, but the wind has a lot of East in it today, so it will not affect the racers so much.
Racing is on!!
any news on the results from last week?
Well done again to Graham, Steve and the KP crew for their efforts.
All going well we might get one sunny evening before the series is over:)
Hey Guys, looking like we are going to have to cancel the race tonight... Wind is non-existent at the moment and doesn't look like its going to build into anything but a very light NW (off shore)
Call the shop if you need any more info.
cheers
Peace (Kitepower)
Hey Peace,
Reckon we'll just have an extra day thrown onto the end of the series or is it just a cancelled day?
You will have competition Jeff, the race boards are getting borrowed quite a bit now.
I cannot see a problem extending the race series until we actually run 6 races, today was never going to happen at Dolls, and its a gusty NW/W wind now.
If extending the series to make up missed one
Would that make the last race on feb 11
Is kitepower attending Kitestock ![]()
Maybe feb 4 ![]()

Results so far
I've run the race results through a spreadsheet, so here are the placings in order up to race 4. Race 5 tonight.
Note: if you did not compete in a race (yellow background) you are given equal last place for that race.
Your 4 best race results will be tabulated to give a final placing. (Sorry if I'm missing a few surnames, Steve has them.)
