Thinking of sorting myself with some bindings before next season. I'm looking at another board to fit them to and am tossing up on size. So the question is, do you ride a slightly bigger board to compensate for the added weight or do you find the weight of the bindings neglible?
Cheers,
Fozzy
Hey Fozzy
Dont forget if the bindings have a Larger solid foot surface area that will affect the flex characterisics of any board unless purpose built for it, effectively changing the rocker line and handling. One of the 'many' reasons why wakeboards have more.
Found a site today with good explanations that will help you make a more informed choice before shelling out.http://www.dcboardz.com/
clik kiteboards, read all - hope this helps you in the right direction
cheers
Hey STW,
The board I am looking at is designed to accomodate bindings so flex pattern should be all good. Good link nonetheless. Made for some interesting reading.
And to the person who gave a thumbs down for simply posting a question....are you serious. ![]()

oh to answer your question, you should go do a search on kitescoop there is tons of information there for you as well.
From my recollection (and brief experience with bindings) you can hold down the power of a larger board more easily with bindings than with straps. So a 'normal' board for a 'normal' rider with straps would be ~134x39, whilst that persons equivalent bindings board would be ~137-139x41.
Any 'influential and progressive' riders feel free to correct me. ![]()
Gday, It depends really, there are pros and cons for both. I used to ride a 128 recoil comp with bindings, Now I ride a 133 recoil with bindings and am loving it. I find landing tricks to blind alot easier with the bigger board, but on the down side anything like an s-bend is slightly harder. In the strong wind
(like today!!!20+knots!!!) with my 133 i can hold my edge just as good as a 128, and in the lite wind it's better cos I can get going heaps sooner wich means more riding time
!!! So I'd reccomend getting the bigger board.
type in "NSI sandal binding" that is pretty much what they are. a sandal binding without the heel strap. I saw some protoype pictures of some being made for Aaron hadlow at the same place i get bindings made. might be ok for the average joe, but its no wakestyle binding, no one could ever take you seriously in a pair of those.
So I guess if these new "jandal" bindings are too much for you we can truly say "You jus' can't handle the jandal cuz ow"
Just in from Kiteforum, naish 09 board glimps. Are we to expect heaps of Binding's/straps like this in 09?.

From the pre production samples ive seen sadly i would say yes. Although it's not like straps are really any better hahaha.
From what I can see from the photo, the straps look the same as the 07-08 Grav-D system, (Maybe the footpad is a bit thicker) so no changes for Naish there.
