Hi,
in the next months I will upload some short vids with my riding progression in Freestyle and Wakestyle and I am hoping to get some tips and feedback to improve my riding.
It would be awesome to see the ladies uploading footage and progression videos.
The film quality of my vids will improve at some stage
footage was taken last weekend with a Canon 550d.
Nice work Rach,
Try a little more speed and your kite a bit lower. The board should be above your head. Without the kite pulling your upper body upwards so much, it should allow you to whip the board up higher and make the trick look even better.
Keep up the good work. ![]()

As said above, plus..
At 0:26 excellent :) haha
At 0:48 look under your kite side arm pit and you would easily turn that into an S-Bend. Faster / more aggressive edging here gave you the better board height.
Good work!
Great idea posting this to assist your progression... well done RachyB...
I agree with the above.. kite lower, a little more speed and attack that takeoff... be agressive, especialy with bindings on.
Great work...
good on ya for learning it both ways right off the bat, keep doing that with all the tricks.
as said above bring your kite down a bit, go in a little bit faster.. but what everyone seems to miss is try keep your arms a bit more bent as you loading up as it gives you better body position to lever up against the power of the kite. if you load with straight arms you get pulled over the top when you suddenly load and you don't get as an aggressive edge.
if you go in faster and flatten off like you do, keep your arms about 45deg bent (UNTIL you left the water) and edge real snappy upwind it wll give you a bigger/ better pop, also ride with your knees a bit more bent so when you pop you can push up off the water and it gives you better height and slack so it will make learning more advanced stuff easier.
good work over all though just refine it now
good work! i see a cute girl kiter in bikini gets a full list of positive comments... if i had posted this i would have a full list of smart arts comments!!
im not having a go at you Rach, in fact the opposite... its refreshing to see a purely positive, skill building post with no trash! more of it i say!! i might have to edit selective 'girl pumping kite' clips into my posts...!
going to get my girl to watch this as soon as i get home... 'see honey, thats what you will be doing...!!' ![]()
Charl's spot on with his advice.
Also my only other tip would be get some fins that aren't surfboard fins. Smaller fins will be looser but it will also make you have to refine your technique and load off the rail of your board (how you should) instead of your fins. About an inch or less of fin would be good.
yeah learning how to use the rails of your board properly instead of relyin on the fins is going to give you solid technique and ability to unhook in a lot more power due to the technique. 1 - 1.5inch fins would be fine for you, then you can go smaller when you get better, i figured i'd leave that out until you had some solid basics down. but rowdy is right go get some 1.5s for now at least or smaller if you can.
Thanks for the helpful tips guys. I've been trying to tweak out my tricks. I'll be heading to alva Sunday so I'll try and implement your suggestions.
I injured my ankle about a month ago which is the main reason I started riding boots but now a really love the riding style and the feel of the boots. I wish I had been riding boots since I started two years ago.
S bend vid coming soon ... Would love to get some more feedback
The trick to boots is really getting used to them and learning how to bail. People who convert from foot hooks often get scared away because they have some bad crashes. This is usually because they have bad habits from riding the hooks, such as holding onto the bar after a crashed trick and looping the kite 100 times, or, trying tricks they really aren't ready for. You should always build up to tricks by learning the basics first. I see all to often groms (and others) who claim they can do a 313 but they can't even do a proper raley. Or claim they are doing KGB's but cant even do a decent back to blind. Anyway, point being is to build up to the bigger tricks, that way you will have the required technique down and your style will be about 100% better.
It sounds like you are on the right track though so keep at it!
