Cape Bridge water on SE.
Main beach in Portland NE. Both spots are hit or miss.

Better kiting at Warrnambool / Port Fairy (pea soup or Killarney ) or over the boarder around Port Mc Donnell.

Hi RAL

i was down at Cape Bridewater last week and its an awesome beach for kiting.

if you turn off into a small car park about 3-4km before Cape Bridgewater i think its called shelley beach or something like that (small brown street sign) there is a stair case down to the beach, well half of it washed away so you have to go down the sand dunes or its a 2 m drop off the end of the stair case.

anyway awesome beach for it no people around (until you get to the township if your doing a downwinder) pretty shallow for a fair way out and nice waves.

also Pt mac Donnell has a break water there which is perfect for a SW but mostly you get SE there so you get a bit of chop but its still reasonably shallow and very few people around. if your confident and can stay upwind nice grassy area to rig up on then straight onto the water inside the breakwater so no sand when your packing up. or head just out of the breakwater and if a big swell hits there is a reasonable break near the end of the breakwater. if the wind is blowing in the morning it would be better as the cray boats wont be there but watch out for them as the get back from around 10am

also Nelson has a very long beach near the river mouth with big swells hitting it but i wouldnt venture out there unless you have company cause its got lots of rips and what not.

hope you have fun
