lol you decide

Lately myself & a 'few' others noticed when the wind pumps - Most of the keen, eager, bitten by the kiteBug, addicted Kiters,
are nowhere to be seen !

We also have taken note how many Poleys are blasting away with hardly a kite to be seen.

Conclusion = Kiters are more worried about Fashion shorts over wetties rather than toughening up & getin out Rain Hail or shine because theyv got 'the kiteing BUG' !!

I'll be the one Kiteing this arvo in 25knots with the Poleys

This arvo? I'm packing the ute now, hoping for morning as well as arvo.

edit: the biggest part of the front is at Mandurah now, I expect a +30kt gust to be careful of in an hour or so.

Woohoo

Thats 2 for the kiters - 80 for the poleys

Those 30knot gusts are great for Elevator jumps at full speed

Posting live from a rocking ute in the Scarborough carpark, I can tell you that me and those backwards flying seagulls are all looking forward to the strong southerlies behind the front as per the Mandurah, Safety Bay and Garden Island graphs. Woohoo!

Hmmm...

Garden Island 10:42
Average 43 knots
Gusts 53 knots.

I'd call that smart, not soft.

If only i had a marshmellow for my warm milky milo right now...

Do you honestly leave your laptop in your locked car in the scarborough carpark?

I was out at Scarborough this morning at 10am when my life flashed before me!
I have damaged 2 kites, 2 surfboards, 1 harness and 1 set of lines in one week now!
Maybe if I was wearing board shorts over my wetsuit, my harness would have been fine!
Gotta love winter kiting

rigged up this morning, but am glad I was 'soft' and hung around waiting for the front to pass. what a brilliant session this arvo!! perfect cross shore and nice juicy waves, sun in the sky and not a drop of rain in sight... with only one other to share it with up at north scarbs. I am a happy man

was out at pinnaroo this morning and saw this real nasty front coming in. Thought i would play it safe and dropped the kite and waited to see. Lucky i did cause it was mad when it hit. Sand storm on the beach pelting rain 50knt squalls and after it passed couldnt even get the kite of the beach. It got buried by sand. What a laugh just glad i went with my gut instinct and came in when i saw those gnarly clouds. And yes these three waveski paddlers were going backwards so were the seagulls! Ive got sand in my eyebrows scalp and eyes.

I thought that might toughen use up a bit

I was actully talking about all spots too having driven (on Vacation) around most & not just one day !

So the hand full takes the count to 20 for kiters - 80 for Poleys ha ha

Keep Hardening up Honeys

It's funny, I saw a heap of kiters at Scarbs and not a single poley. Were all 80 of them at the more protected beaches?

nah Pat, they all went to Dutch inn with 3foot (about 20 out there). the 8' closeout washing machine at scarbs need a kite to boost over to get out.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to risk a sail/mast in that, it was a bit hectic.

yeh this august i was out in 9 degrees water with 6 degrees air and 30 knots and i only lasted 1 hour before i was too numb to function in a 3/2 wettie, and i thought that was being soft lol.

as surfer 62 said it is now 13 degrees water and am now feeling warm.

bring on summer

So that was you Sunday morning? I have made a makeshift wingtip batten but I haven't found the time as yet to tackle the massive birdsnest of lines.

I noticed you had a helmet cam on, did you get some footage you want to post?

I did, but then the helmet cam fell off and sunk to the bottom of the ocean.
