Almost got scamed today. Got an email about my kite for sale, and that he wanted to buy it. He had bad English so I thought that was odd, so after that he told me he was from China and wanted to buy the kite and sort out his own postage we setteled on $800. I gave him my acc details , got an email back saying " I've trancefered $1250 in to your paypal, $800 for the kite, $400 postage and $50 for the wasten union fee". I thought shiza $400 that's keen for postage. Then receved an email from paypal with all the info, BUT there was 2 things not right, first the email was sent to my junk mail, and second it said I had to trancefer that $400 to the shipping company that I've never heard of befor the $1250 would show in my acc. I checked my paypal and I couldn't see any money, so I rang the help support and told them the story, suprise suprise it was a scam. If I had of payed the $400 I would never seen it agen.
To all you sellers out there, if in doute, DONT.

Don't let it happen to you!!!

Nope, that's a common scam. Usually done by check/cheque or credit card and this is the first via PP that I've seen.

Paypal is a common scam. They either fake the paypal deposit email and hope you ship the goods before the payment comes through or steal someone's paypal account and use it. Paypal take the money back when the stolen account has been discovered and if you haven't shipped the goods to the paypal account's address you are outside of the paypal protection and you lose the money.

I feel sorry for the exiled Nigerian prince who now lives in China and does FIFO for a crust and wants to buy a second hand kite to get in to the sport.

How stupid do scammers think we are? Seriously, who would PAY a BUYER to PURCHASE in the first place? That is as dumb as my trolling on this forum! ;)

It is actually part of their strategy. They don't bother with sophisticated scams to try and trick smart people. They stick with very basic scams that target the not so savvy part of the population. Lots of them around, especially the elderly who are more trusting.

Also a good to idea to let me know (forward the scam email to support at seabreeze.com.au), and stuff can be done to prevent it happening to others.

A heap of anti-scam stuff was installed on the site over the last 12 months, and most of them have been thwarted.

If you dont want to risk getting scammed by these scum bags, I can help.
Just send me your pay-pal account details and I will set up some anti-scam security software that cant be penetrated,,,not even by the price of Nigeria.

Good call, but to be 100% sure you are safe, please send me your credit card details along with full name and address. I can then install super mega software that makes 100% sure you are safe from paypal and credit card scams.

I will also send completly free a super mega Beacon device that protects you and everyone in your home from internet scams. Just install it facing your bed or shower for peak protection.

Had a marine engineer on a ship named Dianne Howard wanting to buy my 12m switchblade, terrible English. Was going to put money into my paypal account plus extra that I had to wire via western union for the courier who was going to pick up my kite.. I
I refused. Haven't heard back since.
Should have read this before I bothered to take extra photos of kite and several emails back and forward.
