Is it just me or does the binding tendency of PU covered chicken loop main lines suck big hairy ones?

Nope. Mine slides in and out like a well used sheep.
I was a bit worried with my Cabrinha bars as I almost never release the safeties in anger or not in anger for that matter, did a test and was surprised how well they all worked and how easy they were to reset. I do hose down after every use and make sure they are free of sand etc.
Basically the whole sport has been a long slide to mediocrity since the introduction of the chicken loop. Go back to 2 lines and say no to the corporate shills taking away your power.
rails is with me, he's ready to watch the world burn tonight.

He's right, what does PU even mean, plastic
plastic mofos
made from hydrocarbons
make sure yous lines haven't degraded inside the plastic
potential safety issue, I can see my wear and tear
To clarify.....
The issue is when redirecting hard (almost fish poleing or close to it) the lines traveling through the bar will dog leg, causing binding and stopping or limiting sheeting in or out with the bar at this hard angle. I have removed the PU covering to expose the uncovered Dyneema and the problem seems to have disappeared. It's not hard for me to customise lines to my preference but I am really surprised I have never heard anyone else complain about this previously, considering virtually all bars being offered have the PU covering. My previous bars have never had PU covered main lines or this problem.
The only bar I have seen that doesn't have PU covered mainline is the Slingshot one.
Yeah. I had the same issue when I tried this bar the other day.

So went back to my old bar, below.

Getting a Stick Shift bar soon. Looks to have a much bigger opening for the PU tube. So should be nice and smooth in the action. Will see.

Had PU coated centre lines since getting my 2013 C4- never had an issue with the centre line getting caught or seizing at all. Is the centre line hole on your bar too narrow or does it have sharpish edges that might dig into the line?
I actually have 2 new bars which offend in the same way. One is exactly the same as the OR above (but not that brand) which has a polished stainless centre piece . The other is the same with a different bar and centre piece...anodized aluminium with a plastic insert on the top edge of the bar ..... same bar as the BWS bar. The plastic insert on the second bar offers too hard an edge in my opinion causing the the PU and safety line to dog leg hard when cranked, applying pressure and fiction that causes binding. Having just the bare dyneema seems to have fixed it but I haven't had a chance to fully test it yet.
Yep. Whatever you do don't bother with the North Click bar then. That thing sticks like nothing else. Way worse than my zeeko bar. Its not bad whilst riding and you get some tension on the lines but on the beach laying lines out, the slightest kink makes feel sticky.
You can tell why the North riders at KOTA were using the regular bars so that they didn't have even the slightest bit of friction.
Its not enough to put me off using it though. I'd still give it a thumbs up as a product overall (though I admit I'd have gone for the Ocean Rodeo bar by choice if it wasn't 25% more expensive at the time)
Few days ago I had a demo on a Core XR5 with the twin Pu lines and splitter to separate them...
I thought they might be a problem but didn't notice it all - only just remembered when yous said so.
Works a treat and the 10m definitely goes big :)
Been using the Ocean Rodeo stick shift bar this season and very happy with it. Quality piece of kit. ![]()
