I picked up a Misfit for 340bucks from Cash Converters in Maroochydore recently. There was a Crazyfly 128 for 245bucks there at the time which I believe has gone. Worth checking out now and again and you can bargain with them. Also be aware that boards lost at the rivermouth occasionally end up there, so make sure it's kosher.

Hey Surfingboyo - just read your other post. I'd contact CC in Maroochydore and get them to keep an eye out for it. Another guy on here lost his board and it turned up at CC not long ago.

CC are notorious for 'not helping'. Don't ring them. Keep going in to see what's there. If you see your board, go straight to the cops. The first time I saw my board in a 'pawn' shop I confronted the manager. By the time I went back with my police friend they said 'what board?'

I now photograph every surfboard and kiteboard when I get it as proof of ownership. I got one board back that way so it's worth it.

You need proof of ownership. I was lucky with my board. I had a photo of me holding it the day I bought it, and a statement from the shaper that it was a one off spray job.

I also had a cop friend who handled all the crap with the pawn shop. The first time I tried to retrieve a different board from a pawn shop without police help, the board 'disappeared' from the display and never showed up.

Cashie's is THE WAY TO GO. Got a MINT condition Naish kitesurfboard for 180bucks!!!
Not sure what year it is, but it is in new condition, I couldn't believe it. They thought it was a kids surfboard . lol.
I'm not sure about security checks at CC, but at other places when you sell stuff, you need 100points of id etc. And they send all the info to the cops and they check the name on all their records. Or so I have been told by several shops. 6000dollar fine or something large if they dont do it.

You may think "lol" but that board you bought from cashies is almost certainly stolen or a missing board that had been picked up but not returned. You think about it what kitesurfer in their right mind would sell a board like that for probably only 100$ that they recieve. Obviously they had no idea what it was or the value of it, looking for a quick sell, this is reflected in that cashies had no idea what it was.

Soo yeah congrats on your steal of a purchase, well done for encouraging the theives. Providing consumers for their dirty work.

The board wasnt a model sold in australia. It would have either been found in the middle of the ocean. Or a tourist sold it dirt cheap on his was back home. If the board was stolen overseas and brought over here , well too bad for the ex-owner, they were never gonna find it in Perth.
Thank you for the congrats

How about a it was stolen from a tourists car or from where he was staying, or simply he lost it. Listen to the guy in the trade, dude admit you supported the theives.

Ok say it was stolen from a tourist car. They would be long gone by now. They wernt going to get it back.
I dont see how I have supported the thiefs (assuming it was stolen), it would be cashies supporting them. Who, would have paid maybe 40bucks for the board and sold it on for several times that price. Its not my fault they had a stolen baord. If someone comes up to me and can PROVE that it was their board, I would try and arrange some sort of deal with them.
Cashies deemed it a legitimate board and I didnt steal anything. If I bought it directly off the thief (assuming it was stolen), or I new it was stolen, then I would be supporting theifs.
I kite at a very popular beach for kitesurfing and noone ever has seen this type of baord before in WA. And trust me, some weird stuff comes by.
And the board was going to be sold eventually, with no name on the bottom it wasn't likely to find its ex-owner (whether it was stolen or not) . At least it was sold to someone who loves it

It really does sound like the board was flogged. the fact it is not an australian model means **** considering you can buy anywhere in the world from the net... you know the thing your on now. but i have to say if i found a wicked deal like that from a store i would have bought it faster then any other guy out there. A dodgy guy from an old van on the side of the road? i would say stay clear but in this guys case the carma is coming back on cashies not the end buyer.

Hey guys,

Firstly I will admit there are some EXTREMELY dodgy pawnbrokers out there and I can name them all virtually by name.

However, I am a pawnbroker also. And Im not dodgy - or so I keep telling myself lol - and ones like us are few and far between.

We're getting a bit of kiting gear through now as the sport is picking up steam however whilst some of it is rubbish and I turn it away some of it is actually alright and can be used for a begginer and so forth.

I bought a Naish 9m with harness (dont remember the brand right now) for $250 the other day from work and although the kite itself if a few years old its in quite good nick.

The bloke had replaced all the lines, and bar. We inflated it and the surface was all good and no leaks and minimal UV damage considering so not too bad.

I have a couple of boards and other stuff at one of our stores coming up within the next month and a half - if not picked up beforehand - and I may take a look at them for spares perhaps as they also seem to be in okay condition as well.

But then again I may not lol.

If you want to move your old gear - decent condition lol - come down and see us.

Im trying to stock up the stores with decent kiting gear as no-one really stocks it.

Im at Capalaba Cash Cow - 99 Old Cleveland Rd, Capalaba

We also have stores at Logan and Marsden guys so if you want to move your gear come on in but be prepared to either inflate or convince me about condition lol.

Mickydee.

Are you ****en serious?

thanks for killing the sport.

its really appreciated.

Mickydee why the hell would I say I had a 2nd hand kite worth approx $600 sell it to you for 200$ then when you sell it you make 200% profit? Why youldn't I just sell it for 400 or 300$ for a quick sale if I was desperate. That's why pawnbrokers are friggen dodgy, if you got something that's worth a fair ammount of money you don't sell it to a pawnbroker cause they give your a 1/3rd of what it is worth, you get ripped off. If your a thief you just want some quick cash, you don't want to be caught with the goods, give it to the pawnbroker, convert your loot into cash, once you got the cash your not in possesion of stolen goods. Pawnbroker labels it as a legal product and sells it for 300% more, converts his "product" into cash. Now neither are in possesion of stolen goods, just cash.

Partner's in crime.

Why would you sell your gear to or buy from some dodgy twat for fk all.
There is a far better solution where you will get a fair trade and feel happy about your sell/purchase.
Its here

I would never ever ever ever buy or sell from a pornbroker, its a disgusting business

we are attacking your line of work, no one is going to deny that.the other thing fueling this is we are attacking you for trying to premote your business in our forum. we come here to share advise and have friendly fun slinging **** at others who kite, not to get pawnbroker adverising shoved in our faces. there is a buy and sell section for that!

it wasnt his line of work that bugged me so bad it was him premoting his business in the forum. looks like that back fired.

Actually I deleted it all so it didnt create any further BS in here since I also thought it is a place to chill out and do your thing whatever that is.

And I do apologise if it did come across that way pynnee but it wasn't meant to in any way mate.

Its not my business either, I saw a few things about that may have been of interest to someone but now I know otherwise so its all good.

I dont like being personally attacked is all.

But anyway I can see how it may have come across.

So sorry bout that guys.
