I bought an 9m ozone instinct sport and i find that it keeps stalling on me and I don't know were the power on the kite is when i pull the depower strap
I fly in about 17-25 knots and it falls out of the sky and doesn't respond well to my inputs unless there really drastic movements on the bar... WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!!! every one says this kite is awesome and i cant use it properly!
Firstly, what do you mean by "stalling"? Front stalling, the kite flutters as it leans forward when you have the bar out or pull the strap in, or Back Stalling, the kite slows down and nearly flies backwards with the bar pulled all the way in.
The Instincts need to be flown with the bar somewhere in the middle of the depower range most of the time. I like mine with the rear line trimmers pulled in, so the kite nearly backstalls with the bar pulled right in.
My advice, stick with it, I've got the 9m original instinct, and an 11m Sport, love em both but the 9m is especially sweet.
back stalling its really annoying
like always and is there a way i can add bar pressure? cause i cant use the depower cleat effectivly cause i dont know were to put the bar when i use it
OK, the kite is designed to depower and "fall out of the sky" with the bar all the way out. You need to keep some tension on the steering lines by pulling the bar in a bit. If you try to get power by pulling the bar all the way in the kite can backstall, try flying it with it somewhere in the middle, pull it all the way in when you are powered up for jumps. If it is backstalling try letting the steering line adjusters out.
It should fly sweetly in 17-25 knots.
i had the bar half way and the kite front stalled and fellout of the sky onto the rocks, like 3 times in a row when my friend on a 9m omega was fine! can i get bar pressure in anyway? so i can feel the power/depower
lol are there any mods for bar pressure cause that's all i really need so i can feel the power and depower effects on my kite (i learnt on a switchie 3) or is there a website of mods in general (tweaks?)
Hi Haydenz,
There is definately something wrong. I have two 2007 Instinct Sports 7m and 11m and they have never stalled backwards , nor has it luffed (front stalled). It's super smooth and shouldn't drop out of the sky unless you slam the bar out from fully sheeted in, but then again, I'd still be surprised in 17 to 25 knots.
Take it in to Kitepower in Geelong, Goshen should be able to check it over for you.
Good winds,![]()
Shouldn't be doing that, i flew one a couple of weeks back and they are really nice. Are you in melbs, maybe me or one of my mates could give some advice. How long have you been kiting for????
ive been kiting for about a month
yeah i kite in Hampton
yeah i was on extreme kites and they reckon i was over and under sheeting the kite and i reckon there right
"OK, the kite is designed to depower and "fall out of the sky" with the bar all the way out."
That sounds like one sh1t kite!! ![]()

Yeah, they're sh!t. I spose if you like a huge windrange, no pulleys, and huge air they're OK....
It seems Haydenz' story turned out well, he reported on another forum that with the bar in the stock set up the kite flew perfectly....
I just got last year's Edge 9m. I love second hand kites!
Good call tobes I would have offered haydenz $150 for it....have you flown your edge yet. I am a bit to heavy for the smaller ozones so have to stick to my 13m edge but its a great kite, I replaced mine with the 08 without even test flying it and I have not been dissappointed so start saving up for next year but beware I don't think there will be any for sale some how. I won't be selling mine.
