Hi
I bought an 07 ozone instinct sport from kitepower about a yr ago and am having some issues, first i am finding build quality isnt as good as people are saying it is bacause all my friends kites that were bought about the same time and had about the same amount of use and where basically looked after the same were in much better condition than mine, eg. my lines stretched more and are more worn, one pump valve needed replacing as it had a hole, and it is generally more worn.

Also i have just broken my bar... i am lead to believe this shouldnt be possible in the conditions i was using them and that the bar should be the last thing to brake (will discribe later) i am wondering if it is possible to fix or if its worth just getting a new kite, but then i would have to sell...

Instance that caused my bar to break...
I came in from kiting and tried to self land my kite (which isnt my strongest point and works on a 50-50 basis) so just before landing it takes off again and i throw the lines out so they wont tangle around the bar, but they did so i hold on as the kite whipps across the window and just before it crashes one end of the bar (the right tip) popps out of the socket? (it appears to be of this design) so i manage to land the kite using the front lines and well basically my bar war broken.

i took a look at it and it appears that all that need to be done is removal of the old glue and reglueing it together...

i'm kinda pissed because well kites are expensive and well it shouldnt be this problematic, i think im going back to cabrinha as they seem alot better build wise, its a pity cause i do like the speed of the ozones

I've been asked about self landing Ozones a couple of times lately, people seem to be having difficulties, but it couldn't be easier. Here's what I do-
- connect your leash to the front line flag out handle, make sure the handle is not stuck in the velcro on the 2007 bars
- fly your kite to the edge of the window a few metres above your landing spot, make sure your leash is conected to the UPPER front line
- steer the kite towards the ground and UNHOOK and let go of the chickenloop

About the broken bar, try the shop where you bought it. If you're nice they might replace it.

hi Haydenz, i'm concerned about the method you're using to land the kite? self landing a kite shouldn't work 50/50 - it should work 100% of the time... Do you flag the kite out to one line when landing? Sounds like when the lines wrapped around the bar, it put extra force onto the bar end causing it to come off, definitely unfortunate, but there are many things that can go wrong with gear given the forces involved. Contact Kitepower, and if you can't fix the bar, you could certainly replace it, and not the whole kite...

mate go Naish they have been the best quality/performance kites on the market for the past 7years.
Ask anyone. Next time you see a Naish kite just go & feel the superior quality of the material.
You will not have any probs that other brands suffer from.
tough break

my mate has had naish for yonks and it seems he cant get a kite that doesnt end up leaking from the valves. only one that didnt was the old boxer i think. octypus system isnt down pat

Actually my new kites are fine now (5 minutes with Teflon tape fixed everything). The only naish kite I have that has had troubles is the 06 Torch, but that is a well known problem.

You can't bash a company based on one product made years ago. If you could, then I could say that all North kites are pure **** as the 07 vegas/rhino had a problem with the t-valves

btw this is Skiddz on a mates account...

i try to land like i would land a 4 line kite thats probably why... the flag out is probably a better option thanks...
i dont really like the naish design, the sigma shape doesnt sit on the beach properly and im worried it would fly off as i spend days kiting so i take brakes and leave the kite on the beach...
I was thinking about getting a slingshot rev2 but ild need to sell my old one so repair anyway... il probs give kite power a buzz during the next week... until then il probs demo some of SHQs kites

if only the wind will turn away from east!

Mine never leaked from the octopus system it was just every Inflate and deflate valve that fall off. Also bridles broke, pulleys broke (crap plastic pulleys) Bar broke, chicken loop broke. I'm starting to sound like stabber with his link!

Hi Hayden

Why didn't you just contact the Kitepower store that sold you the kite?
Thats the only place where you are going to get the right advice and a satisfactory resolution to your problem.

Why have a whinge on a forum? Take it back to where you bought it. If it's a warranty issue I'm sure you'll be taken care of.

The fastest and most sensible path to a solution, is to contact the store where you purchased the kite Haydenz, and I think you owe it to yourself to learn how to self land as well, 100% safe, 100% of the time, and its pretty simple with the kite you have advice on that will be included.
