Has anyone crashed their Ozone Catalyst V1 LE down causing the centre strut to fold thereby making it difficult to relaunch?
I have inflated the kite with the new pump to 7PSI and cross checked by trying to fold the LE (which I cant do easily).
is this an issue with this kite? I never achieved this with my SB but that is probably because of the 5 strut support.
Any ideas?
Nope, have not heard of this, was it in waves of flat water? Try pumping to 8, that extra bit counts according to my partner
Was it a case of one strat was on one side and 2 struts were on the other? If so flag the kite to the safety line and then reload the safety, that should sort it out.
Thanks for the reply, it was in flat water. I will pump it to 8 psi which is the upper limit of the green area of the pressure guage.
I also have a mate on a 10m V1 that has had the same problem if crashing the kite whilst learning new tricks. I know, I know - problem can be solved by not crashing your kite.
it is primarily the centre strut that folds into almost a z shape (viewed from side on). The only way I could effect a relaunch was to maintain tension on the lines and swim quickly around to the side of the kite. No matter what I did to try and relaunch normally (from upwind of the kite), it would not catch the wind with a wingtip and commence the relaunch process.
I also must say that, if the centre strut doesnt fold, this kite nearly relaunches itself
From your description I would say that the kite is underinflated, and that you need to work on your technique a little too. If your kite is folded over a bit after a crash and off to one side of the window, relative to you, pull on one of the steering lines at least 2-3M or more. Be careful to not get any loose line caught on yourself. Then let that line out completely and quickly haul in the opposite rear line. This technique will often clear a fold over situation and if it doesn't do it first go, then do it again, and try pulling in a bit more line and speed up the release and pull the other side action. Hope that helps.
Ok. Thks, have pumped the kite to 8psi and it doesnt appear to be doing the same foldover. I will keep your advice in mind in case it does.
