With all the info on the C4 and Zepher out, does anyone have any info on the rest of the range. I have not tried the C4 yet and it looks sweet but i,m after a one kite quiver, something with a bit wider wind range than the C4 if possible.

Any C4 demos on the sunny coast

Hi toppleover,

There is no rest of the range as yet. The new Catalyst isn't out until January and the new Edge isn't ready yet either, early new year I think. The Sport is all but gone (replaced by C4) and the Light has a new name (see catalyst).

There'll be reviews as they appear in the shops no doubt.

What's wrong with the C4 wind range? As good as any SLE/Hybrid IMHO

Cheers,

KH

Hey Toppleover,

I haven't seen their wind range chart as yet. I was riding the 12m in 15-20 knots today but felt a bit under powered in 15 and OK in 20. The 10m Switchy is a fairly grunty little kite. I haven't ridden the 11m yet so can't advise.

I like the 12 m C4 but it tends to need a fair amount of wind to get it humming, not quite so with the 10m C4 so I can't really offer much useful advice, sorry

Ask Rhys from Kitepower QLD, they sell Ozone and Cab and he should be able to give you a much more informed, first hand opinion.

Cheers,

KH

Well I replaced my 11 octane and 10 switchy with a 9 C4. I am 68kg and ride a 132 styx. I can get out (with power) in 17 or 18 and take it up to at least 25. For those days when it's just under (so around 15-18) I will use the 11 c4 and when its around 10 to 15 knots I will use the zephyr.

I tried the C-4 13m and 12m..
Wind at the moment is off shore and really hard to understand the low end.
I thing that if I want to compare to a Light XC I need one size bigger.
Imo 13 C4 to the Light XC 12m.
But C4 turn fast, fly fast, very stable and really smooth.

My quiver for this year is Zephyr, 12m C4, 9m C4.

I have been riding the C4 11m in winds from about 15 to 25 knots in the last week..i weigh 95 kilos ride a 136 TB Haura and a 145 Noble the kite has plenty of power through this wind range for me. At 70 kilos this would be a good size for you.

rode a 12m c4 yesterday, It doesnt depower as much as the older ozones, but you can still edge out the gusts rather easy

i was on a 125cm 555 board in not much more than 15 to 18 knots but im about 63kg.

Demoed the 2010 Helix a few weeks ago and noticed that when you pushed the bar away there was still a fair bit of pull from the kite and you had to edge to shut it down. Is the C4 a similar feel, or is it nothing like the Helix ... Anyone tried both ?

c4 was like that not as much depower and had to edge to **** it down.

but I just had my brand new 11m 09 sport + and was simmlar, but a lil more depower than the c4 had, but nowhere near as much as my original 06 instinct 11.

the sport + has a small aspect of c kite to it, the C4 has a lot of C kite with a small aspect of hybrid to it.

basically go demo one, it was awesome!

Really? I thought the 2010 helix depowered heaps at the bar, maybe you were riding it in too much wind?
The Ozone C4 depowers about 70% at the bar. The bar depower throw is shorter than hybrids and bows, so the bar can easily be reached by anyone, even hobbits.

If you are riding along powered and you let go of the bar, you fall in the water, but the kite does not immediately fall and crash on the water. It has more than enough depower for begginers and heaps of power is there if you want it and can handle it.

Demo one, definitely this years most interesting new kitye style, IMO.
No pulleys, big depower, solid feel of the kite at the bar with adjustable bar pressure.

Cya and

Goodwinds

I can tell you from now that:
by April 2010 you will start to see every brand releasing their 2011 model C kite with bridles.....
The C-4 is a very nice kite different to anything else is out there at the moment!

Is like you take a C kite and an Hybrid put them inside a blander and you get the Ozone.
Maybe a pure C kite has more explosive power or an Hybrid has more depower..
But the C-4 feels like the right compromise to make everybody happy...

I think you are right on the button there Jankie!. But back on subject I think you really have to test fly these kites to work out the right quiver for you. They are different from everything else I have flown .. i haven't flown the 10m yet but the reviews on it are very good. I am comfortable with my chioce (11m) but I will still have a 13m edge for lighter conditions.

Actually I already had few session and I can go very comfortably from the Zephyr 17m to the C4 12m...
Then I have the C4 9m for those few days when the wind is very strong..

Sounds like the perfect qiver... I flew the Zephyer yesterday in very light winds for the first time.... I found that it lives up well to the reviews written, unfortunatley my bad knee will not let me really try it out but I had a nice session anyway. At the end of the session there was acouple of 17m fly surfers and the zephyer and then Jon rocked up on his 15 flysurfer.
