Made the mistake of buying C Kites as beginner kites, wanting to change now.
Anyone with opinions on these? Core GTS6/9 how are they, relaunching etc?

Thanks!
Hi Ed
The core GTS is a fine kite in my opinion, it flys well and is reasonablely easy to relaunch, I think it will make you learning easier that the torches. Use the search function on this site to look up reviews.
A couple of things I would like to point out though
1 The quick release on the core is a twist system, not a push away that you maybe use to with your other kites. And the system is a little pron to jamming if sand or pebbles are caught in the device
2 The kite was first released in late 2010 as a 2011 model but I think core have a 2 year product cycle.
3 Check the kites for for wear on the bridles particularly where the sliders move on them. Check the canopy is still a little crispy if it feels like an old tee shirt walk away if there are a few paches in the on the canopy don't worry to much about that but if there are any tears/repairs from leading edge to trailing edge test fly them to make sure they don't pull to one side.
4 check the bladders hold pressure and have no slow leaks.
5 Two years is quite long for a line set that is used often. So possibly factor in buying new lines.
6. AUD $ 935 is a good price for two kites and I think the sizes are Great for Cape Town
As a beginner I can't compare them to other kites as i've only really ever flown 2 kites (12m core gt and a 17m griffin) but my core relaunches super easily. It gets wet pretty regularly and its far easier and quicker than my griffin but i guess that's size related so its not fair to compare.
I have the 2013 core sensor bar and i much prefer the twist away QR as opposed to the push away on my griffin. Perhaps it's due to making sure the QR becomed instinct everytime i rig up but I used it when i had a bit of a kitemare on the beach late last summer and when trying a tethered launch that started going pear shaped and sand wasn't an issue.
GTS series were good, grunty for their size. Not as much wind range as the riots of the same age, but still decent. Water relaunch easy as. Biggest issue was when the standard depower strap breaks and ur options are ride in full powered or throw to safety. Flew well in lightish wind as well, but thats no problem in SA
Overall, good kites in their time
